CP Processing error, Possible delay = Possible negative feedback...

For the second time of writing this as I lost the page, and all my 30 minutes of typing. sob The first version was longer and better, lol.

So just about a few weeks ago my father sold something on his eBay account. We packaged it up and shipped it away. I have been checking the tracking to see where it was. 10 days ago I checked it and it was re-routed. I thought "Okay, no big deal". It was in Montreal QC, then to Drummondville QC, and re-routed back to Montreal. Well... its hasn't moved since! That was 10 days ago! It's been saying "Item processed", but not "In transit". What the heck is going on?? It was supposed to be delivered today but it hasn't. It is SUPPOSED to be going to Kamloops BC.

A few days ago I sent the buyer this message:

"Hello.
There has been a processing error with the [ITEM] while in transit, therefore, there may be a small delay in shipping. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Now I better not get negative feedback because of this! I'm not paying for CP's mistakes! I will understand if the buyer wants a refund for shipping, but CP better refund it!

  Here is the tracking info:

Well. It's not your fault. Being preemptive with your buyer is never a bad thing in my mind, so good job there. If you used Expedited Parcel and the item is delivered late, you do get to ask for your money on postage back. That's done here:

https://www.canadapost.ca/web/en/kb/details.page?article=request_a_refund_for&cattype=kb&cat=receivi...

Sometimes things fall off the radar until they are actually delivered. You may still be pleasantly surprised.

"If you used Expedited Parcel"

It was standard (Regular Parcel).

"Sometimes things fall off the radar until they are actually delivered. You may still be pleasantly surprised."

Yeah, that happens all the time, but its not just that, it was supposed to be delivered today.

If I get a refund from CP, do I give that money to the buyer, or only if they ask?

But darn! I think I may have lost the receipt! Have to ask my father as I may have given it to him.

I don't think I qualify for a refund though, from reading what that link says you posted.

It's something that happens with CanadaPost and from everything that they tell me they have no reason or explanation as to why it happens. Had this happen to me a few months ago on a shipment from Calgary to Quebec City. Total time in transit 23 days.  If your delivery was does not arrive by delivery standards it would qualify for a postage refund once you make a claim. All you can do is keep on monitoring your package and followup with the buyer to let him know that status(Or to keep him in the loop sign yourself and him up for the tracking updates. I have attached the details for my shipment. Almost appears to be around the world in 80 days.

You won't get a refund unless you've used Expedited Parcel. Always use Expedited Parcel, it has this feature plus it's faster plus it comes with insurance on loss or damage. You need your Canada Post Solutions for Small Business account to access Expedited Parcel which you should have anyway to get your ebay/Shippo postage discount.

https://www.canadapost.ca/cpc/en/business.page

Sign up. It's free, and you need what it offers to sell here. Delivery guarantees, faster service for less and insurance. You can't go wrong with it.

Also, once the Expedited Parcel is late, you can initiate a trace ticket which normally ferrets it out fairly quickly. I'm afraid that I don't know the process for Regular Parcel, I've not used it ever.

@lotzofuniquegoodies -- Looks like your parcel stopped in Montreal just in time for the Carneval http://www.montrealfamilies.ca/Montreal-Winter-Festivals/
Once back in Calgary, back to business.
You really have to wonder about that little holiday in Montreal though.

Okay so I tried signing up for the Small Business account, but when I click "Sign up now", it just goes to the same page, reloads it. I already have a CP account just not the Small Business card thing.

You don’t need the card, just that number when you buy postage. Link the Number to your Shippo account.

And I don' have a shippo account. I do it at the post office. I am talking about the card you take to the post office. When I go here to the link below and press sign up, it just reloads the page.

I assume it's hanging up because you already have an account. If this was me, I'd call the Canada Post 1-800-number tomorrow during business hours and speak to one of their reps about getting another sent to you.
