Here's another one for the pros ...

I posted a Neutral feedback that indicated the item was good, but the seller was unresponsive to my questions before shipping, and proceeded to ship the item after eBay requested a cancellation. I don't believe this was offensive, however..

My feedback for the seller has disappeared and the record of the sale is gone from my purchase history!

So, who is trying to protect this big time money-making for eBay seller?

This stinks ...

I'd suggest contacting eBay through Facebook. Their reps are typically a lot more helpful and you should get an actual person (plus a transcript).

Been there, done that. Played with their robots for awhile, then put the hammer down.

I did (eventually) get to a chat with a human, and I have that transcript. eBay provided all the help I expected, and I appreciate them for that. I am not going to waste my time on this issue tho.

eBay does, however, go a few extra steps for big sellers ... that's where their bucks come from. So any complaints about poor service etc.  from these folks generally get ignored by eBay's bean counters.

You may as well throw $#)@ at the wall and hope something sticks.

btw, I don't do Facebook!

Thanks for listening 🤓

Has any sort of record of the listing also been removed? From what you’re saying, it sounds to me as though you were advised by eBay not to complete the sale if possible, but you had already paid. Something about the sale and/or the seller put them in eBay’s radar, and while you may think the seller is being protected, I think at this point they’re under closer scrutiny.

Re: Here's another one for the pros ...

I doubt the closer scrutiny thing as the seller has dozens of negs, but thousands of sales. If eBay hasn't reacted to some of the really bitter feedbacks (item never received, parts missing, etc.), then I doubt they ever will.

There's too much potential for profits from this seller for eBay to even scare them with a warning.

eBay did offer to initiate an  immediate 'item not received' claim to get me a refund, but I did not want to play that game. The arrival date shown in the listing was still three weeks away, so making this claim now would be wrong.

Re: Here's another one for the pros ...

I've also noted some other wierd things. When I log on to eBay, sometimes it shows MY feedback as 10, and sometimes as 15 (which is correct). This happens even after I clear my cache.

Sometimes, the eBay US site will pop up with all prices in US currency and no 'Canada Only' option in the top search bar.

eBay is strange and I feel sorry for all you sellers who are dealing with postal issues, eBay international shipping nonsense etc.

Glad I'm just a simple buyer 😐

the seller has dozens of negs, but thousands of sales.

EBay doesn't use FB to assess member accounts.

They do use Claims.

Those who left FB did not make Claims.

It has been my observation that a lot of negative and neutral FB indicates that more sophisticated buyers were laying Claims-- which are not publically viewable.

And there is some indication that "too many" Claims can get a seller kicked off eBay- after having their fees raised or losing fee discounts, and being restricted in the number or value of their listings.

But that's behind closed doors.

Re: Here's another one for the pros ...

Thanks for interesting info.

This seller must have received some 'Claims' as more than one feedback indicates the item was paid for but never received and refund was promised but also never received. The average cost of items listed by the seller is around $200.00 Cdn. --- I would certainly file a claim if it was my 200 bucks!

At any rate, my simple neutral feedback for this seller seems to have flown the coop ...

And I’m still wondering if the completed listing is still viewable by regular means, because if it’s not on your list of recent purchases, it’s likely been scrubbed by eBay and you can’t have feedback for a non-existent listing unless it’s a pretty old one.

Re: Here's another one for the pros ...

It's hard t say as the seller has many of the exact same item, description, etc. as the one I purchased.

In the end, I received the product and I am happy with it. My neutral feedback was simply to help others (at least, this is what eBay preaches) that may have a non-responsive experience if they try to contact the seller before hitting the buy it now button.

Learn from my experience. If the seller refuses to answer a few technical questions before you place a bid, find what you want somewhere else.

But the item number for your listing is unique and would be found under a search for "completed listings," I would imagine.

Yes it would, if I could find it!
