Buying on Ebay

I am trying to buy some items listed on EBay.ca that is located in United States, butt Ebay gives me an error message everytime I try to bid on items that seller has restrictions on shipping. Contacted the sellers and they all say they have no such restrictions on the items. This is the message that I get:

(We are sorry but the item you selected may not be purchased due to Seller shipping restrictions, country specific import/export or other relevant restrictions.)

Did you let the sellers know that you are in Canada? I'm only guessing but perhaps they thought you were in the US and that is why they said they have no restrictions.
