Concerned over Store Buy-It-Now new policies

As a card collector that both buys and sells over Ebay, I have a concern over Ebay's new store listing policies that I'm wondering if anyone else in the same boat might have a problem with as well.

My concern is that no longer can you list a Buy-It-Now item under $1.00 in your store! The concern is that for card dealers (and others in the same boat) is that many of these cards, specifically insert cards are not worth at least $1. Sure a complete set of them might be worth $10-$20 or so for all 25 of them, but the majority of them are only worth .50 cents or .25 cents!

Someone might come along and need 3 or 4 of them to complete their set, but they don't want to overpay for those cards and they shouldn't have to either! They should have the choice of paying just 25 cents or so for each of them and being able to do so. Just the same as if they were buying cheaper rookie cards in order to complete a full set.

When I began selling on Ebay you could list them for that amount and alot of my business (and traffic to my store)came from such listings. Sure it might not seem like much, but when each person buys maybe 5-10 of them each time, it adds up! Plus, as they do so, they might take advantage of combined shipping options and buy more items that are more expensive! Now that feature has been taken away from us as both sellers and buyers.

I personally believe that while most of Ebay's recent changes are positive, this is one that has been negative and doesn't do anything to help, but only hinder sellers such as myself. Does anyone else have a problem with this new listing policy as well? And if so, anyone with a bright idea as to how to fix it?

I don't get where your trying to go here Lina. You ask if cards in a sport set are the same, and for me to say they all are is untrue. Every set will have certain cards worth much more. However, the bulk of the set of maybe 400-500 cards(95% of it) will be known as common cards, all of them worth a set price. Usually this is only .5-.25 depending on the set.

When I meant a choice listing, ecspecially with cards, I meant that we could make A LISTING for that set and year, and then be able to list INDIVIDUAL card #'s that the person can choose from (maybe in check box form) and select just like as if they were selecting a quantity. I've seen listings before (and they aren't in violation of Ebay's policies) that say you can have your choice of 10 out of these say 31 or 40 listed numbers. It works, but it's a HUGE pain in the butt when after one person has bought it, and now you have to re-edit and re-list the remaining card #'s. To be honest, I think it's just a way for Ebay to pad their listing fees a little to be honest since it does make you re-list that very item again and again until you have sold them all, instead of just making one simple listing that would do the same and if the listing fee was slightly higher, I don't know about anyone else, but it would be fine with me!

Now since you did mention "Multiple Item Listings",I hadn't heard about that before. I should look into it, as maybe they will end up doing exactly that, but I got a feeling that all they do is list the EXACT same item, just with a quantity number attached to it. No choice of what card # or such you might want to choose.

I know that this is just using cards as an example, but I'm willing to bet that there are alot of sellers out there that may find themselves in the very same both with other items that might end up being the same way.

Side note, if Ebay has specific rules preventing that kind of listing instead of implementing it to help aid sellers such as myself.... am I alone in thinking that the only reason it's prohibited is to force people to list them individually, or re-list that selection until all the items sell, JUST to boost Ebay listing fees???

About have Multiple Listings

forget that idea, never happen

imagine the mess on ebay if they did allow it, and the confusion for the buyers.

to much of a headache if you ask me, I guess for you it makes sense, since u sell cards and would rather have 1 listing for 7 days instead of 20 or so.

🙂
