Feedback Questions

In the FAQ's, Ebay FAQ's goo.gl/tZE41E "Buyers ... should leave Feedback within 60 days after the listing ends." "Buyers should wait to leave Feedback for sellers until after they receive the item." But if the item is 90 days away or more, especially if Canada post might be holding parcels from China, the time to leave positive feedback expires before the item arrives. =( Only option currently is to leave positive feedback and hope the item doesn't arrive damaged. If item is damaged, or not accurate in description, seller would probably not grant a revision to change a positive feedback into a negative one or neutral.

Re: Feedback Questions

You have 2 months or 60 days from time of purchase to leave feedback.

Most sellers around the world should be able to ship the item to you within that time line.

If your waiting longer then 60 days to receive your item then it's time to change your buying habits.

STOP purchasing items from China and focus on sellers from Canada, USA, Europe and Australia.

AND

NEVER leave feedback for a seller before you receive the item you purchased.

Re: Feedback Questions

Totally agree with you. 60 days isn't long enough, especially if you are ordering from overseas. Most packages actually arrive in Canada well within the stated timeframe but are held up in Customs. Sometimes for months!! It's not necessarily the seller's fault and they deserve an honest review of their product via feedback.

Re: Feedback Questions

Sellers cannot authorize the alteration of a positive feedback to negative; ebay does not offer that option. Anyone at any point can leave a follow-up to feedback, or a reply.

More importantly, feedback is voluntary.

Re: Feedback Questions

Feedback is not only voluntary, but eBay doesn't use feedback in assessing seller accounts.

(Some buyers do, but keep in mind that many buyers think 95% is an excellent seller instead of someone who is about to have their selling account closed. )

If your purchase has  not arrived by the last estimated date eBay gave you, your next step is the Resolution Centre.

You will be encouraged to Contact the Seller.

All you want is the date of shipping, the service used, and a tracking number that shows your purchase is in Canada.

If you don't get that, ask eBay to step in and escalate to a Claim.

If the seller cannot prove delivery (not shipping, delivery) you will be refunded.

You can leave FB now if you like.

A couple of points:

  • an offer to ship a replacement is a scam.
  • if the item arrives after you have been refunded, you can repay it using Paypal's Send Money service.

Feedback is not important.

It is the grocery clerk's "have a nice day."

Re: Feedback Questions

Why exactly should I stop buying from China? Who are you to tell me where to buy the products I want or what my "buying habits" should be. Shipping from China happens very efficiently and cheaper than probably anywhere in the world. The  issue is simply that many items get held up by an ineffective Canada Customs department and 60 days isn't a long enough timeframe to expect delivery and form an opinion about the quality of the product.

Re: Feedback Questions

Just chiming in here;

There is one eBay seller I buy watch straps from that is located in China and I typically order $85-$100 worth of goods at once and each order has arrived within 60 days, no hold ups at customs.

Volume can make a difference, as smaller packages tend to get "lost".

You can always ask the seller if they will send by ePacket, it's slightly more costly than the China Post most use but is tracked and no major customs delays. Another major e-commerce group that deals with mostly Chinese vendors uses ePacket and shipping ranges from $4-$15 depending on the item and shipping usually take 30-45 days with no stalling as ePacket is not subsidized as heavily as China Post.

It's been mentioned before but it's one of those things where Canada Post isn't really at blame, it's an economic situation that causes the delays due to heavy subsidy on China Post, by the time it gets to Canada we get pennies to sort and deliver it if I recall a portion of the article.

QUOTE: STOP purchasing items from China and focus on sellers from Canada, USA, Europe and Australia. QUOTE END.

well, that is too funny.... if I purchase the same item in Canada (many items I simply CAN NOT GET in Canada), it cost me in most cases 3-4 times as much, and I have waited even for regular LETTER-mail from Quebec to the Westcoast 41 days!!! Canada Post is ridiculous. I've had a small parcel shipped to me from China on Nov.12th, it arrived on Dec. 6th. No tracking, just plain cheap mail. On the 14th of Nov. another small parcel was shipped to me from China (another seller), it's now Jan. 15th, and the parcel is still not here, they want me to wait, the 'expected delivery date' changed now to end of March - from originally Jan17th. I am not a frequent buyer, even less frequent seller, so I won't receive feedback from this seller, and if the item does not arrive I will not be able to leave a negative feedback. I can't do it anymore, when I look at my purchase history. It took me many years to get the 50 feedbacks/blue star....

ZOMBIE THREAD FROM JUNE 2018

The problem with zombie threads is that the information and advice in them may be out of date or incorrect.

For example- Canada Post and CUPW were in a legal strike position from October 22 until they were ordered back to work at the end of November.

While rotating strikes led to some disruption, Canada Post management also asked overseas postal services to Hold mail being sent to Canada.

At one point there were supposed to be 600 truckloads of mail backed up at various terminals around the country.

Most of this was cleared up by Christmas.
