I was in the US yesterday and WalMart was giving $0.65 on the dollar a short 30 minute drive from the border.
I asked them if they wanted to sell me any Cdn dollars for US at that rate but I guess they like to make a little profit off the backs of Cdn Shoppers.
I upset some of the 'Associates' at the WalMart store when a Canadian was going to purchase a digital camera for $278 US and use Cdn cash. I told her to put it on her credit card or use her debit card and only be charged about 1.21 by her bank (saving her almost $40 over what Walmart would have given her on her Cdn cash).
Its funny how so many small local businesses in the US are even taking Cdn $ at par just to get our business when the huge comglomerates choose to gouge at every chance they get.
I noticed that last Friday! The national bank in downtown toronto was back to selling at 1.18-1.2!
Finally I can cash in the hoards of US $$$ accumulating in my CDN US acct!
I wonder if it will continue to decline...when I debated with my branch manager we reached came up with the prediction it would continue to decline with the new year as Bush continues in settle in...
Back to low 70s would be nice please and thanks. I'm running out of CAD rather quickly since I'm sitting on all my USD waiting to cash it in, and buying products in CAD.
