Hello... We have a pair of nineteenth century English (?) sugar nips for which we can not identify the maker because there is no assay office mark.

The other markings are as follows. We have attached photos.

- lion passant in shield
- lower case date mark "b" in square
- duty mark of male figure facing right
- maker's mark "IL" in square

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

But he has now been fingerprinted, lives in a half-way house and is a strong candidate for the new national registry.

Me and Bill Maher could care less...

Bill waiiiiiiiiiiiiiit......ok nevermind. You go ahead. Fine for you Mr. Bill. You never took back the Santi thingy. I'm telling you, he's not dead and he's not in rehab. I have it on good authority that he is running an equestrian school in Maltavia.

I think it's a little sporatious that we don't get our stories straight. Glenda, your premunitions are always right on the money and I always find it corradiating to read your posts. Keep up the stroessive ideas. I look forward to festering them.

A number of people seem to be looking for someone to attack, which is unfortunate. My post was meant as a cancellation of my earlier comment that this thread belongs somewhere else. That's why I said that seeing as how this kind of thread isn't against the rules, go for it. At least four people started feeding off each other's negativity toward me. It's disturbing how the group mentality allows people to congratulate each other for being rude to one person, now deemed "the troll". Nice going, you make a person feel welcomed! I came to this board for information and to help me deal with the deadbeats and problems of eBay. If new PowerSellers come here, find the regulars to be attacking and misinterpreting them, as well as calling them names, then they'll probably decide to avoid it. In my opinion, the more quality PowerSellers we can get in here, the better. If you three/four are going to jump on someone and do the online equivalent of beat the crap out of them, you're not helping the board, because they'll go away. I wasn't aware that this board had no rules about topics. Now I know, but I found out the hard way. Luckily, I understand the group mentality, and the positive rewards a person gets from other members of the group congratulating them on their "troll bashing" and "hanging out to dry" methods. I made a mistake, then tried to correct it, and hopefully you're not going to misinterpret this post as well, and ask for me to be banned from the board.

I apologize for this off topic post.

shooger - I think you are doing just fine. I know that you didn't realize the nature of this board and you I realize that you misjudged. As I said before, I can only speak for myself and myself says "I have NO problem with you at all" Welcome aboard and you had better be smart and knowledgeable because we needs dat around these parts :))

shooger, you can't have it both ways.

In the last few days you have accused eBay sellers that leave feedback after a buyer as "dishonest" and now told this OP that their innocent post was inappropriate.

And now you want sympathy because people told you that you were wrong? You call others dishonest and are upset because you are compared to a "troll" for inciting.

You also insisted that it was just your opinion and you should be allowed to have it without recriminations. Where was it written that you are allowed that benefit and others are not? I missed that memo. I think you used the words "the door swings both ways".

So you've been swarmed... so what! Get over it and treat others as you want to be treated. When you start to treat others with the respect you feel you are due I am willing to bet the attacks on you dry up and blow away in the wind. I'm also willing to bet that if you persist in leveling attacks on others that the ball often bounces back even faster.

For clarification, the Cdn. PS board is not limited to problems we all encounter as PS'ers. It is a place for us to exchange ideas, offer assistance, or just kick back and communicate with others, like ourselves, that make eBay a business or, at least, a large part of our day. For me, as a one-man show, is similar to hanging out around the water cooler. Social interaction. Goofing-off. Whatever.

And before anyone else in the "Gang of Four (or Three, we're never really sure ourselves) chimes in with another spaghetti lashing I'll say upfront that you are always welcome on the board... as I hope I am.

treasurepot, of course you're welcome on this board. Most of your posts are useful and kind. Anything directed at me, however, is rude. You also love putting words in my mouth. Yes, I've ticked you off TWICE in the two weeks that I've been a PowerSeller. I stand by my opinion that it's dishonest to withhold feedback from a paying buyer and leave a negative if they aren't satisfied with your performance as the seller. Your opinion is different - stop bringing this up, as if I am wrong and you're right.

I didn't ask for sympathy, I didn't "call people dishonest", I'm not "upset", I haven't "accused", I never "insisted", I didn't not say "there should be no recrimincations", and I did not claim that it was written "I am allowed special treatment and others are not". If you want to attack me, please stick to the facts, not what you want your friends to think. They'll make their own impression, hopefully. And they can read the thread about feedback hostage taking, too, and see if I live up to the troll status you're calling for.

Please just leave me alone, treasurepot. I stand by my statements. And I don't expect a lashing from your gang, because I think most of them are good people.

Speaking of that, thanks Jackie. I'm not very knowledgeable about silver, or anything that any of you deal in. But I have a solid working knowledge of PayPal, eBay, and people in general. 🙂

Gee, I didnt post anything here and I dont know if I am part of the gang of 3 or 4 or all alone.

Just kidding. We are all happy to have this board because our doing business with eBay is very apparently different from the American PSers and whether one belives it or not, we as Canadians are different.

For the few short months this board has been active, I have found that the gang of 3 or 4 or 50 members have welcomed everyone with open arms as well as their opinions and while we dont have to agree or disagree with everything posted (and we very evidently dont), that is something that we agree upon.

I also find this a place to escape the routine of eBay business and other business and personal matters and enjoy the comradship.

I think however that you will find there is an unwritten rule and that is "You have a right to express your opinion on a subject but you dont have a right to attack another member".

Shooger, perhaps it was just the way you expressed yourself in writing on this thread but it did come across as an attack more than a suggestion or question and I think you found out the hard way that it was seen as an attack. Your posting was not very positive, at all.

That being said, this is a good place to communicate, to share concerns, seek assistance and to just chill!

Well Shooger your last posts certainly helped a bunch.

In my response to your first insult, which was disgusting, I was friendly.

My response to your second post, where you tried make things right but actually made a BS claim on behalf of "99% of power sellers" was more animated and bitter.

After a whole day of your silence I was so friendly and asked you to come back and join us and all was OK. I am not a part of a gang. I am part of an organized group who jumps in and out of an electronic room.

Now this has turned into an issue about YOU and how you are misread and mistreated.

Please.

If you are going to shoot off that keyboard of yours you must expect some fallout. And then get ready to get back in the swing of things here becuase all of us make verbal blunders now and then. We apologize, send an e-mail or two to kiss and make up and then get back to work.

Get on with it. I have work to do and I'm sure you do to.

Lisa

"Now this has turned into an issue about YOU and how you are misread and mistreated."

And if you were in my place, you'd refrain from posting a reply? Or you'd simply post "Woops, my bad!" No, you'd do what I did - apologize, explain what happened, and try and find a way to make things right.

Why don't YOU "get on with it". If I want to go and do work, I will, and if I want to post here, I'll do that too. Sheesh, isnt the whole point about this conversation that we're allowed to post if we want to? I just learned that, and you're teling me to move on, go do some work. 😕

Thanks, amberwood. While I'm not here for comradeship, I do appreciate getting away from emails, feedback, and posting. I've gained a few useful tips from reading this board so far, and hopefully will get some more.

I likely won't bother posting, though. I might get misunderstood, and verbally harassed. *rolls eyes* I'll just read, and post occasionally if I feel that my input would be useful.

So I think I have come up with a solution that will leave everyone kissing and hugging.

I have started a thread where if you have a question - about anything - you can ask it there. That way it is localized to one thread.

Shooger, you should not feel uncomfortable in your place of work and play so the bad feelings must stop. Today is a new day and every effort must be made on all sides to get along.

So if you don't post eye rolling, negative vibe verbage, I won't either. And everyone else should consider moving on too.

What do you think?

I don't visit often, have been so busy lately with a zillion things, and work fulltime, BUT, it would be awfully nice if we Canucks could get along well. We need to!
And, like Lisa with silver, I love to answer questions about jewelry, which is my area of expertise...
(Are you sure that it's British, Lisa, how did they get it past the assay offices without getting hung?)...
Have a great day, everyone,
Karen

Like I said, I'm *pretty sure* that it's British because it had four hits on my hit-o-meter - especially with the maker's mark. If it is not British, then I would look for it to be Canadian - but too many marks for that?

Maybe it's a bootleg LOL.

I am not an a$$ ki$$er, but I think that this board would suffer a loss if you chose not to participate.

You have engaged in some healthy, albeit controversial topics posted on this board and have made contributions.

I can understand that you felt 'bashed' by a number of members over the 'silver-tongued' comment that you made on this thread and were not able to find a silver lining in the dark cloud of comments being made against what people felt was inappropriate.

I've said this in another thread and I stick by it "You have to have a pretty thick skin to be an eBay PSer".

Take a moment, have a sip of coffee from your eBay PS mug and join us in some threads on this board.

Malcolm
