No. Your maximum bid cannot be seen by others. Why do you think that it can be?

Many newbies are confused by eBay's proxy bidding system.
You see an item at $10.
You like it and bid $10.
It opens to you at $10 and that is what other members (buyers and sellers) see.
I see it and bid $11, it is now selling to me at $11.
You want it and bid $12. So now it is selling to you at $12.
I want to go to watch TV, so I decide I'm willing to pay $25 considering the shipping cost.
So I bid $25. It opens to me at $13.
You bid $14. It's still mine but now at $15 because of the automatic bidding of the proxy bidding system.
You bid $16- my bid automatically becomes $17. (I'm watching Grace and Frankie on Netflix now.)
You bid $18- my bid automatically becomes $19 (Even though I'm now asleep.)
You bid $20 but the auction times out and I win at $21. OR you bid $30 in annoyance and win at $26 when the auction ends.
The moral is:
Bid once, Bid your maximum.

What I've found with auction-type listings is that there are users who are prepared to pay more than I am.
