How do I know if the buyer has paid for shipping fees? Also need help on shipping label info.

Hi, I'm a new seller and just sold my first item.

When I go to my Activity page, I can see amounts in the "Totals" box on the side. Under "Payments not recieved" I see only the amount that my item costs, not including shipping costs.

I've listed the item with the proper shipping options but why is the shipping cost not included in that section of the "Totals" box?

I also need an answer on the shipping labels provided by ebay/paypal. I ran back and forth from both sites trying to understand the procedure.

From what I've gathered, they charge me the shipping cost to actually print out the labels and the cost is later refunded to my account. Is this how the buyer "pays" for shipping?

If this is the way shipping is paid by the buyer, then I am very confused. I read somewhere else on the forum that I don't need to use those provided labels and that I can bring the parcel to a local Canada Post office to have them do the shipping labels and such. But if that's possible, how do I get shipping fees from the buyer? Because I plan on doing this.

Check your paypal account. Were you paid? If so, the item price plus shipping is shown. Always check your paypal to confirm payment has been received. Do not ship the item until after you have been paid. As a new seller, paypal will hold your funds (not forever) and there will be a notice telling you to ship the item because payment has been received but not released.

As a new seller, please read everything regarding selling in the Customer Support section.

Non paying buyers deserve unpaid item strikes.

There is a glitch between the dimensions required by Canada Post and those required for the most similar service  by USPS. The USPS ones are almost a centimeter bigger. If you didn't notice that the shipping to the USA says"Contact Seller" your invoices are going to give US buyers free shipping.

For the  immediate problem, fill in the correct shipping amount and send your buyer a new invoice.

Then go to all your other listings and check that there is a shipping fee noted for the USA. If not, go to Revise and add a centimeter to every Canadian Domestic shipping dimensions.
