It's cheapest to jump across the border and mail them at a USPS outlet. Much cheaper.

Why don't you just put them all in one package and mail expedited? It'll cost about $8.00-$9.00 CAD I think.

You already suggested Greyhound for Canada, why wouldnt you consider them for the US as well.
The only thing that you have to consider for the US is that they will cube the parcel, so if you are shipping large parcels of pillows, you are going to pay a fortune but if you ae shipping 40lbs of lead, the cost can be quite reasonable.
Failing that, as was suggested earlier, examine shipping via UPSP by crossing a nearby border. You can save a ton of money.

If insurance isn't required, and shipping time isn't an issue, Small Packet (Surface) to the United States is the cheapest. The cheapest package starts at $3.35. If you want to send it air, the cheapest package starts at $5.05.
This is up to 250g. From 250g-500g, the costs go up a bit, but still quite reasonable ($5.10 and $6.70)...
The full breakdown for sending to the united states is here:
http://www.canadapost.ca/business/offerings/small_packets/us/rates-e.asp
Now, for sending to Canada, as far as I know, there isn't much option with Canada Post. Just make sure you have a VentureOne card (you get a 5% discount). It gets there quite quick, with up to $100 CAD insurance for free. For me, living in alberta, I can ship to BC for about $7.00, Alberta for $6.00, Ontario (etc) for $8.50, and the maritimes for $9.00. These are estimates -- it depends on the weight/cube, etc.
Hope this helps!

The $100 insurance for Small Packet is only for the US and Export, not for shipments within Canada.
If you want to insure small packet in Canada, letter (standard, non-standard or oversize), it would have to go registered for an extra $6 to give you $100 free insurance, after that insurance is $0.65 per $100 up to $5,000.
If you try to file a claim for something lost or destroyed that was to be delivered within Canada, you will be out of luck.
You would have to use Express Post or Expedited for insured delivery or regular parcel and purchase insurance coverage.
I have the latest rate card from CP where I met a rep at an eBay event less than a week ago and small packet was discussed in part.

Crossing the border to ship back into Canada may save a litlle in postage, but it will cost you big time in goodwill when your buyer gets stuck with customs tariffs, taxes & handling charge.
Stick with insured expedited or expresspost.

Expedited Parcels (for business customers only) ship quickly, cheaply, and with free $100 in insurance. Make sure you get the VentureOne card.

I considered that but Greyhound in the USA is a completely seperate company and they dont combine. They have no way that i know of for the Canadian greyhound to ship to the states.
Thanks

The VentureOne rate is at least 5-10 times higher than what I pay in shipping rates within Canada with my commercial account with CP at a level 3.
What was being discussed that I was referring to was the "Small Packet" rate which is not small items shipped via Expedited Post.
Small Packets carry $100 insurance for all 'out of country' shipments but $0.00 insurance for shipments within Canada. Small Packet is Canada Post's version of the USPS Media Mail.
Expedited Post, while it can be used to ship small packets, is generally used to ship larger packages up to 30 kg for less than the Express Post cost with a few days longer delivery... and yes the first $100 insurance is free but you are paying considerably more than what the Small Packet rate would be, depending of course on what you are shipping and where you are shipping it to

You need to talk to a Greyhound rep. I dont know who gave you incorrect information about Greyhound shipments from Canada not being combined with Greyhound US shipments and not being able to be delivered to your US customers. They were completely incorrect. They ship anywhere in the world, even overnight service like UPS or Purolator (they have their own airplanes).
In Canada the company is known as Greyhound Courier Express, in the US it is known as Greyhound PackageXpress® (GPX) (Identical web sites linked to each other).
Call 1-877-463-6446 or go to www.shipgreyhound.ca. The site even links to their US web site. You can get quotes online or apply to open a commercial account online.
I havent started using them yet so I cant comment on their service but I have spoken to people who have used them and they were very pleased with the service.

What do you mean by small packet within Canada. I didn't think there was any small packet within Canada?

Small Packet is international only.

Malcolm, can you give examples? I use VentureOne, and if for example If I ship from Ontario to Nova Scotia and my cost before tax is $6.97, are you saying that you'd pay 5-10 times less? Pennies, in fact?

It depends on what you are shipping. I ship fairly large packages that weigh anywhere from a minimum of 3.5 kg up to 29.5 kg.
The average weight of my products is about 8 kg or 17.5 lbs.
If I shipped a 10 kg package from Ontario to NS (E1N 1A2 as an example), regular Express Post cost would be $40.22, Venture 1 rate at 5% discount would be $38.21, my rate is $25.53. Expedited would cost you $16.41 while my rate is $10.03.
As the distances increase and the weights increase, so does the spread between my rates and the Venture 1 discount.
There are very few savings in the small parcel/package business in Canada although my rate would still only be $5.53 pretax for around 1kg or less shipped to NS with $100 insurance included and tracking and 2-3 days delivery.
You are right on the Small Packet only for outside of Canada. The discussion that took place with a CP rep 2 weeks ago at an Ottawa eBay session touched on small packet and the talk was whether insurance was included for Canada and the answer was no.
What wasnt mentioned was that it was due to Small Packet NOT being a Cdn service. I just checked the rate card.
I dont use small packet, only Express Post and Expedited services so I am not familiar with the level of service provided aside from what was raised by the CP rep.
