Does anyone know where I can complain about getting a refund from IMA?

I signed up for a membership last year but I was not interested in renewing it. Never-the-less, I was charged for another year's membership without question or authorization. I have written to them several times and talked with them on the phone but I can't seem to get my money back. All the phone conversations end with "Will call you back tomorrow".

It seems that the membership was listed under "Subscriptions" on my PayPal account (without my knowledge) and they claim that PayPal automatically sent payment to them. PayPal refuses to cancel payment, saying that they have been provided with sufficient authorization to do this (not by me!) and if I want my money back, I need to contact IMA for a refund.

I have been trying for a month to get my money back, without any luck.

Doesn't sound like you're going to have any luck on this, I'm afraid.

Likely, the terms and conditions allowed them to set up a recurring payment and the fact that you didn't withdraw the permission ( which I assume you have done now for next year) gave Paypal the right to go ahead.

I'd make a note to make sure the permission hasn't been re-instated for next year, just before the payment is due to come off and chalk it up to experience. -------------------------------------------------------------------

Try emailing eBay user loucoins but give it a few days or so as I know his father just had a stroke yesterday.

The IMA has just recently gone through a total rebirth, the original few idiots who were running it were well known for this sort of thing as well as absconding with most of the membership money.

A complete new board was recently installed who will hopefully avoid this type of mess. I'm sure there is a considerable amount of crap to clear up.

Charlie (loucoins) is just an IMA member but he's active within the group and has helped out others in a similar situation.
