Is test purchase from myself a policy violation ?

Need to make several test purchases to test a software tool I am working on.

Intend to cancel transactions without payment submitted since I only need to test combining, not the checkout process. No feedback will be exchanged whatsoever.

I am hoping there is no some policy against this case.

Hi dipmicro,

You may find that the system won't let you complete the purchase as a warning may pop up that says...you can't purchase from yourself!

Shill bidding could be perceived?

Why not ask a good friend to do the purchasing and then do a mutual? That would be the safest way to check out what you are doing.

Susan, of course I meant from my purchasing acct 🙂 You are right, you cannot make purchase from yourself via same ID.

Already did the purchases and found out several interesting points, eBay gets confused when buyer specifies different shipping address than their primary shipping address.

Was able to troubleshoot my combining tool that calculates not only subtotal price but also weight of all items. This was my PITA especially on 10+ line orders and when buyer asked to add something, I had to go through all the lines again. Now the combining is about 3-4 clicks regardles on how many lines. The best part is that my tool sees all sales records (see my older post about vanishing sales records in Selling Manager Pro).

as long as you don't buy from an auction it is fine and I also do this on occasion for testing purposes.

At the end I just do mutual cancellations.
