Canada Post Unbelievable!!!

I mailed 3 parcels September 22/08. I mailed 1 Light Packet to the UK which arrived there September 26/08, 1 Light Packet to Poland which arrived September 30/08 and 1 to PEI Expedited Parcel guaranteed delivery September 29/08, which finally arrived today October 1/08.

It amazes me how it can take so long to arrive to PEI, I understand that it is on the other side of Canada from BC, but really, did they ship slow canoe to PEI?

I am very happy that all my International Light Packets are arriving so quickly lately. These 2 are not the first to arrive so quickly. I have shipped several to England, France, Netherlands and they are all arriving 5-7 days. They are arriving faster than packages in Canada.

When I asked Canada Post they had no answers. I am waiting to hear from a Supervisor. I imagine that might take 7-10 business days as well. If at all.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Ooops Posted to quickly again!

I used the expedited parcel flat box rate that Canada Post & Ebay joined together to create and it takes longer. I wish we had Light Packet in Canada.

No but perhaps the big storm caused a bit of a delay......ok I'm reaching for an excuse for CP!

I find that international light or small packet almost always get there very quickly; and much faster than to Canada or the U.S.

This actually makes sense......here's an example.

You drop a Small Packet Air (going to the uk) at the post office (in the GTA) at 2:00pm, it many cases this will be on a an evening flight out of Pearson and will arrive in the UK the following morning, if the processing through UK customs is smooth it will be in the domestic UK delivery stream the next day with delivery the following day (total 4 days).

You drop a domestic Expedited package (going to Vancouver) at the Post Office at 2:00pm (also in the GTA), that evening it will be loaded on a truck, sometime the following day the truck will be full and will head West, 4 days later it will arrive in Vancouver and enter the local delivery stream with delivery likely within 2 days (total 7 days).

The problem with packages going to the USA is the very slow processing of incoming mail from Canada, this is partially due to security measures and partially due to the high volume of mail between Canada and the USA.

Thanks so much for all your comments.

recped you always have the right answers...LOL
Have you ever been stumped? I know it makes sense, but when I pay $13.00 to ship to PEI and $12.80 to the UK to ship same weight and size of package and the UK will get their package in half the time it just seems wrong.

rockyeb220 I know duct tape can fix almost everything...but sadly not this. But maybe the next time I ship a package to PEI I'll put a piece of duct tape on it and see.;-)

Have a Great Week Everyone!!

Canada Post Unbelievable!!!

I've noticed mail is consistently slow in between Montreal and BC for some reason. It usually takes a full 2 weeks via regular mail. Alberta and everywhere else seems to only take about a week.

Canada Post Unbelievable!!!

"Hurricanes tend to slow things down in the maritimes..."

This made me laugh. I live in the maritimes, and we never have hurricanes. Well, we had one 5 years ago, and were supposed to have one last weekend, but it didn't even hit. Everyone was kind of disappointed to have missed "the big storm", since we never get them. So, I wouldn't blame slow mail on that. Snow storms, yes.

I also find my parcels get to the UK MUCH faster than to the US or other parts of Canada. The first time a customer overseas told me she got her parcel less than 48 hours after I dropped it off, I thought she was lying. Takes me that long to get it to the next town here! I figure the plane just flew over her house and dropped it off with a mini parachute...

yes faerywishes, but lightpacket only comes with a parachute when going to the UK. For some reason, the US doesn't allow parachute service.

International packages would of course get there faster then national packages. CP sends the package out to a service that is faster/better/cheaper then itself. As soon as a package makes it out of Canada (if it does) the speed in which it is delivered is dramatically increased. Within Canada CP puts the slow whammie on it.

When I lived in Niagara Falls Area I used to ship all my American packages our of NY. I soon started to ship all my Canadian packages out of NY. It was much cheaper, had tracking information and would arrive much faster.
