Need faster way to end auctions on eBay.

My son-in-law died on Monday. When he was admitted to hospital last Thursday evening, the same day DH had outpatient surgery, I had over 900 listings with over 200 of them as auctions. We brought my 2 grandsons home with us that evening and they stayed with us so my daughter could stay at the hospital with her husband. We took them home this afternoon.

I immediately put my store on vacation because I did not want to deal with eBay sales during this critical time. I did not have time to end some auctions until 3 or 4 days had gone by and therefore had orders to ship out. My son-in-law was a computer expert. I would not own a computer if it were not for him. He built it and taught me the basics in knowing how to use it. The oldest boy, age 9, has had his own computer since he was 4 years old. Playing games on my computer was his coping mechanism this week and I gave him priority over eBay. The youngest is 5 years old. It has been a few years since I had children at home. With my husband also laid up after surgery it was a physically and emotionally exhausting week.

I finally had a chance to end a few auctions but there needs to a faster way to shut things down during an emergency. Add to that the combined shipping glitches which necessitated numerous refunds and it was ridiculous.

My store is now back online but now my focus is not to make extra money for retirement but to help support my grandsons.

eBay needs to fix the glitches and let us bulk end auctions.

My son-in-law would have been 37 on Dec. 22.

My heart breaks for all of you. Please accept my deepest condolences on your family's loss.

The only thing I can think of to end them would be through a listing program like Blackthorne. Once you have them all imported into the program, you'd then select them and go to Listing Actions and click on End Listing Early. A new window will pop up where you select why you're ending them and that's it. Done!

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. We attended my grandsons' Christmas concert this evening. We are trying to keep things as normal as possible for them. The response and support of friends and relatives has been overwhelming. There will be no funeral but a memorial service is being held for him on Saturday. He was well loved and respected and I know the hall will be packed.

Thanks again to all of you for your support. It has been a very long day. They ran out of chairs at the funeral home today and it was standing room only. My 2 grandchildren managed to stay through the entire service. They had a room set up for them with a DVD player and movies if they could not handle it, especially the 9 year old as he has been having a very difficult time. The 5 year old sat on his Mom's lap holding a tissue up to his nose and dabbing his eyes as he imitated the family members around him. He doesn't understand although he knows his Daddy is not coming home anymore.

I was impressed that the boys' teachers, the school principal, and the teacher the oldest boy had last year came to the service. And so did the head nurse from the hospital.

The lady who conducted the service is also a grief counselor and she was absolutely wonderful.

Now we have to get going on Christmas and making it the best one we can for them. Their Dad's birthday is Dec. 22 so we will have to get through that one too. I feel so badly for my son-in-law's parents. They were barely able to hold themselves together today. Having to face the first birthday and the first Christmas without him so soon and so close together will be overwhelming for them.

I lost my husband suddenly on November 11th. It is tough to deal with. My five granddaughters were so very upset & sad that it made me worse.

Hi Renee,

Thank you for your sentiments. I am so very sorry to hear about your husband. l can't imagine the grief that you must be feeling. I see what my daughter and grandsons are going through and it breaks my heart. His death was very sudden too. I also lost a close friend a couple of months ago. Christmas will be very different this year as we both face the first Christmas without our loved ones. This Wednesday will be the first birthday without my son-in-law as well.

I will be thinking of you. Life goes on but we will miss them forever.
