I (hopefully) just put my store on vacation until August 1st. I have been on hold with eBay for about an hour even though I used the call back feature. I have a few questions. One thing I noticed when I checked hide listing is that it says it does not include auction items. Does this mean auction items still show and can be purchased? Cause that isn't going to work. Do you need to end all your auctions.
Also I noticed that many are saying they will still continue to list while on vacation which I too would like to do as I currently have quite a few new items. I assume the promo that is good till July 19th if you list will still only run for 30 days from whenever you list them? Do you save these listing as drafts or do you just list them now?
I have only had my store since last fall so still learning and have never put it on vacation yet. Appreciate help from some of you more experienced sellers and store owners out there as looks like I will not be able to talk to eBay - am just about ready to hang up - an hour is a bit too long of a wait for an"important call" (their words not mine LOL)

Over the last eighteen years I have the opportunity to put my store "on vacation" a few times.
Listings do not disappear or "hide" immediately. It may take up to two hours for all of them to go away, just like it often takes up to two hours for them to show up in the store after listing.
While on vacation, you can do everything you want: list new stuff, revise current listings, etc... As long as you selected the "hide" your listings feature nothing will be seen by potential buyers although you have full access to all listings through your Selling Manager.
You only have seven auction listings. I would not worry about it as they will be hidden soon like all others. They will end at their scheduled time.
Good Luck

"when I checked hide listing"
Did you in fact click the "hide listings" box?
And yes, you should end auction listings

If you are going away before your Auction listings end then you need to end them early.
In my experience my listings are hidden immediately, you can still see them but other user cannot.
Remember there are two vacation setting, one just puts a notice in your listings the other actually hides them.
Also set up the auto reply to cover any messages your buyers might send while you are away.
Listings you start while on Vacation start immediately and end at the normal time. You could create listings today and schedule them to start (much) later. When you are away but before the 19th change them to immediate from scheduled and list them. This will give you the maximum amount of time after you return. The only thing you would need is to find an internet connection so you can launch them "from the road".
Added: Remember Scheduled listings are not free if you have a store so you just want to schedule them as a "placeholder" not actually use scheduling to list them (unless you will be off the grid and willing to pay the fee).

Thanks everyone. I did click the hide listings but it said something about this not including auctions. I do not have many auction items but have a few with several watchers on them. I am not going away - just concerned about the postal strike & parcels getting stuck in limbo & me get late defects! I will maybe end the auction items tomorrow if no action. Appreciate all your help. It is so nice to be able to come to these boards & get help especially when eBay puts you on hold for an hour! You guys are much faster!!

We get the Globe and Mail every morning and listen to RadioONE most of the day. Evenings we usually tune into CTV National News.
FWIW, none of these seem to have noticed that any work stoppage is likely. There has been almost no coverage.
Here's the last G&M story about CanadaPost, over a month ago and basically a rewrite of a publicity release.
CTV has been a little better.

Both are local stories, not national.
And both mention that while lettermail is off, parcel delivery is up and growing. Which of course includes us eBay sellers .

When I logged on to one of my credit card accounts earlier, it showed me a message reminding me that while there will be potential mail disruption in July but I still have to pay bills on time lol. So apparently this particular financial institute is thinking ahead.

I too am seeing no national coverage on this but I too received a notice in one of my bills saying in the event of a strike I was still required to pay on time. Most of what I have seen/read about it has been articles shared on these boards. Maybe we are the only ones who care!? LOL
The best scenario will be they don't go out & we can all take our stores out of vacation mode & carry on with our businesses!
