Why does it not reflect on your purchase list on eBay (little envelope} next to the purchased item when the seller claims to have posted it. Does this mean that he has not posted it ?
Yes, they have to manually click on the "shipped" button to let you know it's been dispatched. But if the seller mailed it without using PayPal or tracking number, then that may be another reason the system didn't update it automatically.
