I'm thinking the sell thru chart from Medved is messed up. I don't recall anything which happened Sept 6/7 that could cause such a dramatic change. At the same time it's now a full week since the new FP rules kicked in and nothing is changing.

Maybe, maybe not.
I moved 900 store listings to fixed price with 30 day duration. It cost me $300 for the privilege. Results so far have been dismal.
What will I do on October 16/17 when those 30 day listings expire?
Relist them, without question. And I will again do the same on November 15/16 when those expire.
By mid-December, I'll think about it. And I suspect many sellers will do the same. 30 days is not enough time considering the current economical and political situations. Too many buyers are sitting on the sideline. I am willing to give them time.
If I am wrong it will cost me an extra $600 or so for 60 extra days coverage. It is not the end of the world. .

The high visibility for the first 48 hours of FP listings seems to be fact, what is not certain as yet is how badly this exposure trails off. It's suspected that FP listings go into a black hole after 2 days and don't re-emerge until they are close to the ending date. It get more complicated when you add in the effect of "sales history" to the algorithm.
