I thought about this yesterday when I was looking for Lisa. I was getting impatient wondering if anyone had seen her. I didn't want to post in another thread because it may have been mised, so I had to email her instead. (Which was no problem by the way)

Then I thought...maybe we could have a thread where we could come and ask about someone or just to say something that just doesn't pertain to anything in particular. It's always a bit weird going 'off subject' in someone else's thread.

So, this thread will be for EVERYone and it could be about ANYthing. You don't ever have to use it, but if you need to, great. Doesn't mean you can't make your own thread, it just mimics the ski chalet after a day of skiing. Say what you want - ask what you want - show your pictures - comment on the dot com threads (yuk yuk) A veritable freebie. I hope it will be useful but if it's not - then...$screw you guys - I'm going home! 🙂

Good morning all from the West Coast (it IS still morning here).

I just popped in to wish you all a happy, healthy and gold or better 2004 -- may we all merit PS phone support at least! Most of you will be sound asleep by the time we're toasting the new year out here, so have a good time and stay safe!!

hugs, Glenda

Well people, there isn't a whole lot of time left in 2003. It has been an important year for me, for so many reasons and one of them is that's when I met all of you. When you consider how much time some of us spend doing our ebay business and popping into the boards for info or comraderie, we do spend a lot of time together.

I am just so happy that we are so far above the rest in that we all get along so well and we respect each other immensely. This is a wonderful meeting place that is full of laughter and good will that has become just like a second home. There is always a kindness to be had when needed in this room! I want to thank you all for being who you are, for all of the help you have given me since I started on the boards and for just being there when some emotional support was needed in my private life. You have all been such good friends and I am so very happy to know all of you.

May 2004 bring you all the very best of health and propserity and I look forward to spending another terrific year with you all, here on the boards.

Lots of love and affection,

Jackie...

Thought that I better get a note in here to resurrect this thread before it gets burried in the more serious stuff. No comments since January 1 to it and I know that I can share some responsibility for inactivity in posting.

Despite the rising shipping rates and rising eBay fees and the rising Canadian dollar, I am confident that we will all have a very good year, just not as good as it should be.

We are looking forward to -17 tonight and I have to move 50% of the garbage in my garage to the back of the garage tonight as I am having a new garage door installed at 7:30am tomorrow morning.

Oh boy, another excuse not to list anything tonight. I must be in a rut, I have only listed 4 items since December 15th.

Watch out though, I will be listing some of the 500,000 comics I have been asked to sell this week and next week I will begin listing the entire contents of someone's home (Antiques, Chinese furniture, paintings, nick nacks, etc.), more musical instruments and then collector pieces of china and chandeliers the week after.

I guess I am just catching my breath before embarking on year two of sellin on ebay and beginning with a BANG!

Malcolm

Hi Malcolm - How are you doing Bubby? Well all I can say is...you're a better human being than I am. I am seeing the rising Canadian dollar, the rise in postal prices, the rise in ebay fees and the damned cold weather as all a pain in my butt. It's too much all at one time. You know...I have a feeling that lots of PSers emailed ebay to complain about the fee hike AND the dopey new PS icon. Consequently, they had to react to at least one of them and obviously it wasn't going to be the one involving revenue. It's called..."The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away"

End of whine...pass the cheese!!!!

Hugs,

Jackie......

Jackie - are you trying to tell us our old PS icon is back?

Speaking of weather being a pain in the derriere, I'm feeling totally betrayed (although the neighbourhood kids are all having a ball) ... we got about 3 inches of snow on Saturday, it didn't melt much - just turned to ice on the roads, then we got another 3 - 4" today!! Now I know that you prairie types and easterners are going to roll your eyeballs at me, but jeez guys, this is Victoria!

Even with the raised rates, I personally feel that basic auctions eBay is still the best bargain in town and no-one is forcing any of us to use the higher priced features. With the store rates going way down, I'm starting to think about opening a store.

Canada Post's raise is a whole nother story! That's totally unconscionable and we really shouldn't just sit back and let them raise everything by such a whopping percentage. I suppose they feel that as long as they raise domestic letter mail only 1 cent, most people won't even notice the rest.

Share your cheese Jackie?? 😄

Jackie,

I'm in from the cold after getting the garage sorted for the garage door people tomorrow morning. After 45 minutes in the freezing cold making a total mess to make room knowing that I am going back tomorrow night to spend 2 hours putting everything back again, I am ready to take on the world.

Come on CP, come on eBay. no gloves. Sorry I dont agree that there is any reason to raise ebay fees without making some concessions to the regular sellers. I dont think there would be anything wrong with a multi tiered program.

Side Rant to eBay (sorry Jackie)
There are people who sell once or twice a year or even 30 times per year and to talk the socialistic crap of everyone being on an even and level playing field is garbage. A bigger increase would be appropriate for new sellers while giving them the opportunity to enjoy reduced fees when they sell more and more on eBay.

Thats the way it is in the rest of the world and thats how this increase should have been passed along. At least eBay should have offered something to PSers achieving certain levels.

Sorry pinks but in all corporations around the world there are pricing discounts based on volume of business generated and there should be no exception here. If you were planning on an increase then consideration should have been given to rewarding people achieving higher sales levels.

Its interesting to note that the increase in services one gets from eBay as they sell more are the services they need less of. Its the newbies who need eBay support and not as much the guy selling 100,000 products per year as he pretty much has the system down pat.

And as much as we all want to see shooting stars, I guarantee that I wont get one more sale because I have a shooting star beside my ID.

Give us something that means something to us. Give us MONEY!!! After all that's why we are here.

(Back to you now Jackie)

I'm back in action and ready to fight the cause.

Hope you and your family had a great Christmas, thanks for passing on the musical notes to me. I am looking forward to a great eBay year as I have some great prospects for additional prodcust that could keep me busier than I wanted to be in this business.

Well said Malcolm. As always. We should make you our Ombudsman. What do you think, Glenda?? Isn't Malcolm the bomb? And, I agree with your logic. But once again, your mouth to God's ear.

Glenda, I'm sure that is shocking for you to have that snow. I'm telling you, this is not going to be a boring winter. Right now Glenda, we are in a dangerous deep freeze and they just had a weather advisory on TV that said with the windchill factor is was going to be too bad to be outdoors tonight. It ALWAYS makes me think of the homeless, when it's cold like that. I wonder where the poor souls go. God love them.....I know they hate to have to go to the shelters because they're so dangerous but he11....staying outside right now is deadly. Saw a 22 yr old guy on the news last night who was homeless. They were interviewing him and I thought to myself, how the heck did this happen to this young person? He has nobody to love him or to care about him. Breaks my heart. And we have the nerve to comp-lain about our little inconveniences. Makes you think.

Hope everyone is well and getting ready for another good ebay year. And....if Malcolm has anything to say about it, maybe it'll be better than we expect :)))

Hugs,

Jackie...

Good morning everyone. How is everybody this fine day? Frozen solid or at least shivering?? It's -40 here and it's very hard to heat the house. It's just too cold.

My auctions suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haven't had a good week in a while. I hope people start to shop again soon.

Aside from listing 4 auctions, I havent started my big campaign yet for the New Year. We are going to start listing comics today and probably get up some more instruments tomorrow.

I think it is the weather and the fact that we had such a good Christmas in sales that I have taken a bit of a back seat to listing over the last couple of weeks.

I plan on going out into the cold today as I have one instrument that was not ready to be shipped out yeterday when CP came and I have some Christmas presants for 1 nephew and 2 nieces that I didnt get to them because they all had the flu.

Aside from that, this should be a good weekend to watch movies in my basement theatre.

Good morning all, the weather's back to normal here on the wet coast - for now... We have another cold snap forecast. Jackie, I know what you're saying! We certainly didn't get as cold as you are but there was a bitter off-shore wind blowing and our rental townhouse needs new weatherstripping, and the ancient furnace is on its last legs ... I supplemented what little the furnace gave us with a space heater and the stove oven, plus a lot of layering of clothes! (I felt like Charlie Brown bundled up to play in the snow - could barely move!)

We had a disappointing November and December for sales, but this month seems to be starting a little better - I just might manage to keep PS status after all!

We're hoping to hear that the far-north-type weather you've been getting in the east gets back to normal quckly - we worry about all our friends in that kind of bone-numbing cold!

Good morning everyone. I think all of my Canadian buddies are in hiberation. There's not too much chit chat on the board, lately. Everyone still stunned from Christmas? Or, maybe some of you are just frozen solid and can't type?? Brrrrrrrrr 🙂

Interestng news yesterday regarding George Bush. Paul O'Neil said that Bush had planned to 'get' Saddamm even before 9-11. There is going to be a huge inquiry now, as to why this person was able to display top scret memoranda to the press. Could get ugly. It was an illegal war to begin with. I wonder in Bush will be impeached...
