USPS is making changes on Jan 27 to rates and services and features.
One Interesting change is the addition of Delivery Confirmation to First Class Parcel International. It is going to be available for Canada only at first.
So it appears that USA sellers will not have to use the Priority services at $25 for DC to Canada.
It seems to be a USPS version our new Tracker Packet service just being introduced by Canada Post.
Here is the topic where I read this.
Looks like 1st class int'l is doubling in price...
Post 1 has a link to the USPS changes which contains the renamed service First-Class Package International Service™ (FCPIS)
Field Information Kit: January 27, 2013, Domestic and International Shipping Services Price Change
Go to the section First-Class Package International Service (2/3 way down the web page)
Here is the 2nd paragraph that is of interest:
The pricing structure for FCPIS will be more simplified in that there will be one price of $6.55 for 1- to 2-ounces to anywhere in the world; 3- to 4-ounces within each country price group will have identical prices; and 5- to 8-ounces within each country group will have identical prices. New for January 2013, free electronic USPS Delivery Confirmation International offers scan events for customers using select software or online tools. E-USPS DELCON INTL is optionally provided for First-Class Package International Service to select destinations. It will be available only to Canada to start with.
Any comments on what this means? Will USA sellers have cheap DC for First Class parcels sending to Canada?
I apologize in advance if I misunderstood this change. I am not familiar with USPS services and only have a vague understanding of their much broader array of services.
