I received a message that two items I am selling had bid retractions. When I checked they were both by the same bidder. Looking at their bidding history, this person has hundreds of bid retractions in the last six months leading me to believe there is a strategy behind this. Can anyone enlighten me?

If there are other bidders they could be trying to find out what the other bidders maximum is.
I would block them from bidding again.
Other bidders may think it is you trying to inflate the selling price.

Its not fair to other bidders and i would draw it to ebay's attention if as you say, hundreds..customer support..contact ebay..under selling..report a member.. call us comes up but if you click ..another policy violation , can actually email.

I agree with blocking or contacting eBay. This person has over 2700 purchases with 100% feedback though. Seems pretty good to me.

"with 100% feedback though. "
Feedback for buyers is meaningless since all they can get is positives. Prior to 2008, 100% positive with all those transactions would mean something. Now it means nothing. Rude, unreasonable cheating non payers also have 100% positive feedback.

I forgot to mention that you should report the invalid retractions.
