You can't get your package until it is released for delivery by Customs. BTW,eBay doesn't send out emails telling buyers that their package is ready for pickup at the Post office. How long has it been since you paid for the item? You have up to 45 days to open an item not received dispute. Here's a page on how to open disputes.

I've gotten emails like that and they look like they are from Ebay and they turn out to be fakes.  Mine usually say something like a parcel I sent is held up in Indiana post office or something equally ridiculous then you go into the item number they quote (do not do this through that email!!) and it's not a registered number.  If you get any of these emails forward them to Ebay spam and they will try to stop the site sending it.

Hello 'ron',

You don't say what the item is or when you bought it, but if a parcel is with Customs it is not going anywhere until they release it.  They will, - when they're ready.  That is, unless you have ordered some contraband which ought not to have been imported in the first place. 🙂

If the item is coming from the US, it may take about 3 weeks to get here, although I have often waited much longer.  You have read scifan's link so you know about what to do about no-shows.

If you have been given a tracking number, that must mean it is coming Priority, and so you can track the package here:

https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction!input.action

And once it crosses over the border, no matter where it comes from, a parcel can be tracked here:

http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/track/personal/findByTrackNumber?execution=e1s1

As you are clearly unfamiliar with ordering items from outside the country, -- you need to be aware that depending what the item is and where it is made, you may have to pay duty, tax according to your province, and the $8.50 processing fee to Canada Post.
