Most problems for buyers come down to Item Not Received or Item Not As Described.

If your problem is one of those, go to the automated Resolution Centre at the bottom of this page and open a Dispute.

If the problem is straightforward the robots are fast, efficient and don't lie to get you off the phone.

Follow the prompts and you will be refunded.

Most problems for sellers are Unpaid Items , Unwarranted Returns/Refunds, or Feedback Extortion.

Unpaid transactions can be handled by the Resolution Centre. You can't open a UID for 96 hours after purchase.

EBay is moving to opening these Unpaids automatically after 96 hours. The buyer gets a Strike and cannot leave feedback.

If a buyer is threatening to leave bad feedback if some demand is not met, that is Extortion and congratulations you just won your case.

If a buyer wants a refund because the purchase is not what he thought it would be, just accept it. You can demand Return even if you have a No Returns policy, and only refund when you get it back.  You cannot have a No Refunds policy.

And then there is Managed Payments.

Many posters here have had problems setting this up. Post the details and someone can probably tell you how she solved it.

If you have something new and unique we'd be glad to hear it.

The Help and Contact phone clerks are poorly trained sub-contractors. You can reach them at the bottom of this page.

Preferable is Chat, which is written, used actual eBay employees, and gives you a transcript so you can review their advice to see if what you heard is what they said.

You can also reach eBay employees on FaceBook and on Twitter.

Some members express satisfaction with their advice.
