No longer able to change my primary shipping address in eBay app

Under "Settings" in the eBay app, I used to be able to easily switch between different shipping addresses stored in my account, by selecting a check box, "Set as primary shipping address". Up until a couple of weeks ago, it seems I can no longer do this. I can still select this check box to make the change but the address does not update in the app. Any advice on this? I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and it did not fix this issue.

Are you using the Android version of the app? I recently installed the iOS version and I use a slider button on the top right-hand corner of the screen to toggle the primary shipping address.

Make sure you’re tapping “done” (also in the top right-hand corner for me) after changing your address or the update won’t happen.

Are you able to shop old school....using a PC? The option to change addresses is still there. This is one of the fears/nuisances/worries with eBay testing automatic payment required if you float between payment methods. An automatic default for your ship to address.  When I was shopping regularly I would switch between work and home all the time.

Thanks! Yes, I'm using the Android version of the app and don't have the slider at the top like the iOS version does. We have a checkbox at the bottom instead.

I was just testing this out again and noticed I'm able to set an address as my primary address if it has a phone number entered with it. The addresses without a phone number aren't able to be set as a primary address in the app, and the app won't let me add a phone number, as it doesn't save it, oddly enough. This must be some weird glitch in the Android app, due to a recent update. I'll have to try adding the phone number on my PC via web, and then it should work.

So it seems that adding the missing phone number to my shipping addresses made no difference, as I still cannot set some of them as my primary shipping address. The only workaround for now is to select my primary shipping address using the web version on my PC. Hopefully eBay will fix this issue on the Android app.

I am on Android and having same issue. I have always had a phone number on both addresses so that definitely is not it. Confirmed on a computer I can easily change addresses it is just on mobile.

Mind you if I purchase something at time of purchase I can choose another shipping address but it makes it difficult browsing products as I cannot see the correct shipping cost.

It seems this issue is related to the latest update that was made to the eBay Android app on July 9th. I uninstalled my eBay app and installed an older version of the app and I can now switch between primary addresses, like I used to. I installed the June 27th, 2024 version from the link below. Once you do that, make sure you go into the Google Play store, search for the eBay app and go onto the page for that app. Tap on the three dots at the top right and disable auto update for the eBay app, otherwise your phone will automatically replace the old version you just installed with the buggy new version.

I am still using the June 27th version, as it seems to be working fine, but I noticed the app was updated again.

Wondering if anyone knows if they fixed this so I can update to newest?

I would also like to know as well as I'm still on the June version and withholding updates until I know this bug is fixed.

hi- i am in canada and haqve a usa shipping address for usa purchases to avoid the high cost of postage to canada. you'd think it was going to russia. i use my home address for canadian and iternational purchases. often ebay tells me the seller won't ship to canada even when the seller says they do. sometimes i can edit a change, sometimes not. so i give up mostly. before xmas i bought a book for 2200.00 and as i couldn't change my address i just contacted the seller..the extra postage to canada would've saved me money as ebay takes almost ten percent for wash. state tax and it's like paying the tax twice as i declare my purchases at the border..the wash state tax came off automatically  and after days of trying to get help from ebay they said they would get back to me after reviewing it.N o they did not. I t makes me spend a lot less on ebay.right now i am having the same issue-changed to usa address but ebay just repeats that seller doesn't ship to canada.. aaaargh
