eBay.ca STORE Recent Changes

Aug, 2024

Had an eBay store on eBay.ca since 2020.  During the past few years was selling in US $’s on eBay.com and using my Canadian eBay store account.  Recently I was being charged insertion fees for auction listings on items that previously no such charge was made because I had the eBay STORE.   I was advised by eBay Customer Support to close my eBay.ca STORE and start a STORE in eBay.com.   I did so.

Has anyone heard of this issue?   Cheers

I was advised by eBay Customer Support

Did you phone the sub-contractors who answer the phones, or do you have a transcript of the social media Chat you had with actual eBay employees?

Do the recent Auctions fit into the categories that have the Free Listings?

I doubt that opening a store on .com is going to make a difference to that particular issue as both sites have the same restrictions on auction listings when you have a store.

Depending on the store level, a specific number of fixed price listings are allowed each month in any category. Depending on the store level there are extra fixed price listings allowed in specific categories.

Auction listings are only allowed in specific categories.  The amount varies per store level.

You can only use your zero insertion fee auction-style listings allocation in the following categories:

  • Antiques
  • Art
  • Clothing, Shoes & Accessories
  • Coins & Paper Money
  • Collectibles
  • Dolls & Bears
  • Entertainment Memorabilia
  • Health & Beauty
  • Jewellery & Watches
  • Pottery & Glass
  • Sports Mem, Cards & Fan Shop
  • Stamps
  • Toys & Hobbies

Information for store fees and categories are at the following link.

Re: eBay.ca STORE Recent Changes

You are allowed to post items on .com if you want to increase the number of listings that you are allowed. You would keep your store and your current listing on .ca but list different items on .com.

For example, if you have  1000 fixed price free listings for your store, you could list 1,000 on .ca and 1000 on .com without any extra charges.

However, since the .com listings would be in $US and shipping shows US options as a default, listing there is a little more complicated.   Your earnings on .com would also be transferred to $C before being deposited into your bank account so there would be some exchange fees to take into account.
