BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

So I transferred my banking over from RBC to Tangerine thinking I made sure nothing was linked but forgot about eBay. Tried to simply connect my Tangerine account and was met with "bank not supported. please add another account". I dont have another account. I've spent tons of time on here browsing solutions and see as early as a few weeks ago canadians mentioning tangerine is fine. And before anyone asks:
-Yes its a chequing account
-Yes my names and addresses match exactly
-Yes its a CAD account and I'm trying to be paid in CAD

After speaking with 5 eBay payment reps 2 of them have confirmed that Tangerine is no longer a supported bank and is on a list of "unsupported routing and transit numbers". The only option I've been provided is to open a new bank account. When I asked what happens to my money if I don't I'm told "well it would sit there until you do because we can't issue it anywhere". As if I don't have a properly linked paypal or Mastercard. The other three told me that "there should be no issue". This company is the devil and I can't wait to get its greedy little claws out of me.

Re: BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

I suppose, but I've had so much better customer service from online companies that aren't anywhere near the massive size of eBay. But anyway...

I added my CDN$ Simplii chequing account (same one that wouldn't work) and it worked just fine. And yes, it directs me to the .com site and gives my selling limit in $200 US dollars. When on eBay.ca and it gives me this message when I go to payments ...

"Your payment information is not available on international eBay sites. To view and update this information, please go to payments on the US site"

Maybe someday they will fix that too? 🤷‍♂️

Was something fixed? On the seller portal a new button appeared to chamge country. I set it to Canada and tried my Simplii bank account again and it seemed to accept it this time.

Just wanted to report that my deposit to Tangerine still works fine.

Re: BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

Micro deposits posted to my account, and I confirmed this morning. The only issue is some of my payouts didn't come over to ebay.ca from ebay.com. I only see $999 when I had $1700. I guess I didn't have to cancel my auctions and create a new account after all. This entire experience has been kafkaesque.

My understanding is that early adopters of Managed Payments who chose to have their payouts directed to a Tangerine account have been "grandfathered."

Betting there was never a problem with Tangerine. It was probably another snafu with ebay's back end. We would need someone who was having problems to test, but willing to bet it is working now as long as they set their account to Canadian under selling hub.

The problem users like you and @toontown92 faced beyond the US registration issue is that your issue is a communications breakdown between the IT department and the frontline CSRs, compounded by the fact that we're in Canada but being served out of the US, which has a much larger user base to deal with.  This issue appeared to be on IT"s "to do" list but it was a matter of finding CSRs in the know about it so that your account could be added to a service ticket.   This was/is a mess to be sure, and I hope there's a post mortem done at eBay HQ to ensure that Canadian users are better kept in the loop when it comes to serious technical glitches like this.

How often are your payouts scheduled, @mephistopheles93?  A $999 payout strikes me as being the result of a $1000 limit being hit.

Another possibility could be for the over the limit hold(s) could be eBay's considering you a NEW seller (in their mind) and applying the wait for confirmed delivery/feedback requirement on the applicable transactions. Would be good if there was a reason showing for holds/delays in processing. And a timestamp as to when a transaction is released/available. Currently it just shows released.

From a personal standpoint I've had low value transactions process(available) in under 24 hours and higher values take up to the 48 hrs and sometimes longer. I recall 1(HV) taking 4 days. Huh?? I've also seen newer ones released before older ones. Filing that under the eBay no rythme or reason department. (For anyone not familiar, that's a dept. made up of very heavy drinkers that just don't give a hoot.) 😉

Re: BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

I am not sure why it was at 999$ and change yesterday. It's over $1100 today with no additional sales. The numbers still don't add up though. It says:

Your total funds
C $1,108.47

Available funds
C $728.69

Processing
C $198.24

On hold
C $181.54

I cancelled my listings 2 weeks ago, so not sure why $400 is tied up.

Re: BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

Your backed-up payments are probably stuck in a bit of a time warp, but it looks as though they're getting to you once it's been determined that they're no longer subject to being held.

I think there have been a few posts from users who don't have their registration information on the US site but have had trouble attaching a Tangerine account to Managed Payments.  This looks like an example:

Are you trying to set up a seller's account and register for Managed Payments? I'm not sure what the poster means by that either but since you registered in Canada, you should simply be able to sign up for MP on .ca.  The posters who were having a problem originally registered on .com but live in Canada, so that was causing a problem.

Re: BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

I just got accepted with a tangerine account.  I looked at the chequeing account cardholder name and it was different from my eBay name!

Tangerine had "helpfully" added Mr to  "account holder name".  My tangerine name doesn't have Mr so I changed my eBay name to  Mr. My Name

Account holder name is just a faint small name when you look at your chequing accont.

Phew, this took a lot of digging to get working.

Re: BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

I totally relate to your frustration, kazcards.

I have an account credit that was taken from my credit card. After many house trying and pleading for support, and after being given countless incorrect information, I was told that I would have to open a new bank account to recieve my money back. Despite the back no money has ever come from Tangerine to eBay.

I spoke to the highest level of support, who rudely state the eBay has provided a black and white, clear cut resolution for me - to open an new bank account. I'm shocked that payment to the original payment form is not an option, let alone a cheque mailed to me.

Horrendous experience, horrendous customer service. I will do everything in my power to never use or recommend ebay again.  I feel cheated and scammed. It almost seems like they intentionally make it overly complicated to recieve your own money back.

Re: BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

I wanted to follow up on this discussion because I am a new seller. I signed up to ebay sometime post covid (2020) and created a paypal account specifically for it. I was very excited when I found out they were moving directly to bank accounts because I didn't use my paypal account and I didn't really want it either.

I had a Visa Debit linked to my ebay account which I could use for purchases but just had someone buy something from me for the first time, and got an email about needing to review and update my account details so that I could get my money and to prevent further action being taken against my account. I had not actually added any bank for selling so I typed in my Tangerine account info and got this message "We do not support this bank. Please add a different bank account.{e153292-1224925x}" which led me to this thread.

After reading through this thread and troubleshooting, I thought I had maybe found the issue. I went directly in to the payments tab on ebay to add an account instead of just using the email link to "update my information" when I went to add a payments account, I selected tangerine as my bank (from the list of options given to me) entered my username and answered my banks security question etc. Ebay then connected to my account and retrived my chequing account information, which was correct and I verified. I got to the final stage where I clicked to add the account as an option, the page then reloaded and I got the same "we do not support this bank" message.

I'm at a little bit of a loss here. Tangerine was literally listed on the list of banks when I went to add my account, ebay connected to my account, retrived it's information and everything, and then when I hit the final add button it said it wasn't supported. No idea what my course of action should be here.

I have the same issue. Just created the ebay.ca account 2 days ago to sell an item. It sold, but can't add Tangerine. Same error.

Re: BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

I spoke to the highest level of support,

Never never never trust the phone clerks on customer support.

They do not work for eBay but for a subcontractor in Utah and are poorly trained.

The only advantage with them is that the overseas clerks do understand that Canada is a soveriegn country with its own currency and banking system, which the US-based clerks can't figure out.

They are not the highest authority. You spoke with someone with a record of being able to get complainers off the phone.

Go instead to the social media Chats which are covered by trained eBay employees who have some authority to act.  (But still clarify that you are not in the USA. Often.)

And you get a transcript so you can compare what you heard with what you were told.

Re: BEWARE. Tangerine no longer accepted.

Also experiencing this issue. eBay.ca account. Tried to add my bank account and I get the unsupported message. Chatted in and was told that Tangerine is not an accepted bank with eBay.

Went to payments and was able to sign-in to my Tangerine account (which was listed), went through all the steps, clicked "add" and was returned a "Bank not supported" error.

A little frustrating to say the least.
