So I transferred my banking over from RBC to Tangerine thinking I made sure nothing was linked but forgot about eBay. Tried to simply connect my Tangerine account and was met with "bank not supported. please add another account". I dont have another account. I've spent tons of time on here browsing solutions and see as early as a few weeks ago canadians mentioning tangerine is fine. And before anyone asks:
-Yes its a chequing account
-Yes my names and addresses match exactly
-Yes its a CAD account and I'm trying to be paid in CAD
After speaking with 5 eBay payment reps 2 of them have confirmed that Tangerine is no longer a supported bank and is on a list of "unsupported routing and transit numbers". The only option I've been provided is to open a new bank account. When I asked what happens to my money if I don't I'm told "well it would sit there until you do because we can't issue it anywhere". As if I don't have a properly linked paypal or Mastercard. The other three told me that "there should be no issue". This company is the devil and I can't wait to get its greedy little claws out of me.

Hi Frank,
My understanding is that if you have a US checking account at Canadian bank, that should work. Unfortunately Simplii only offers US savings accounts. I wish I had known about this issue before I started selling as I now have $2000 in limbo. As far as I'm concerned there is no excuse on ebay's part. For every person that finds this thread there are likely dozens of non tech-savy users going through hell.

Yes, it does seem like we're being punished for being around for so long. Without sellers like us, eBay wouldn't exist. But anyway.
thanks for opening a new account and verifying that Simplii is indeed fine to use! An answer that eBay seemingly cannot provide with their useless chat "help"
I figure you would have to have another email address as I tried opening another eBay.ca account and was told my email wasn't valid because someone else is using it (me). The thing I don't know is if I can use all my other info? My name, address, etc? I was thinking I would have to put it all in my girlfriends name

This isn't going to get fixed. Just contacted ebay on twitter about ticket. She told me to contact payments and gave me a link that takes me back to the helpdesk.
devon@ebay is there anyway ebay can just send me a check? Or is my only option a lawsuit?

Just spent an hr going in circle with payments who's solution is to try another bank account even though i explained the exact issue to him and that this will not help. I asked if ebay could cut me a check for what they owe me and i would close my account and he said no then ended the session. So ebay is basically stealing my money.

Managed Payments started rolling out in Canada about two and a half years ago.
https://community.ebay.ca/t5/Seller-Central/MANAGED-PAYMENTS-IS-COMING-TO-CANADA-SOONER-THEN-YOU-THI...
There are longtime sellers who got caught in this mess way back then but the big difference is that they were active and consistent about selling at that time. I suspect that eBay was left with the impression that these sellers were outliers, small in number, and that a big fix that could be easily implemented to a significant number of Canadian sellers registered on .com who hadn’t switched over was unnecessary. I have a vague memory that Canadian sellers registered on .com were invited to switch to .ca 2001, 2002-ish after eBay.ca was established. It was probably easier to do this back then with dedicated staff working for a bigger version of eBay.ca and easier communication within the organization.
I don't see why this wouldn't get fixed now when it got fixed for those who adopted Managed Payments early in the game.

I just documented my experiences with tech support here https://community.ebay.ca/t5/Payments/Ebay-makes-it-impossible-for-older-Canadian-accounts-to-get/m-...
It's like a mix of Groundhogs Day, Catch 22, Brazil and 1984.

The sense I have from a couple of other users is that it would be best if you opened a service ticket for your issue. You may have to get pretty insistent about this.

Finally got an answer. It's not the one I wanted, but I finally got through to the right team and they are going to pay me.

I have spent already about 4 hours dealing with Ebay agents that have no solutions this problem. It sickens me they are keeping MY money from me. I refuse to open up another bank account and I have been with Ebay for 23 years. Please reply if anyone finds a solution to this.

You need to contact the account security team at the bottom of this page https://www.ebay.ca/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/setting-changing-automatic-payment-method/man...
So far the only solution is to start over with a new account which sucks. But at least he put in a request to pay me out via paypal.

You can open multiple eBay ID's with the same name, address etc but you do need a separate email account for each ID

Created new account on ebay.ca and it accepted my bank. The only problem is my sell limit is capped at 10 items and $1000/month. Support's hands are tied on limits because it's a "new" account. Sigh... guess I won't be selling anything this month. Kind of feels like I am being punished for my 20+ years of patronage.

Thanks pjcdn2005 👍
I would guess that if I linked my chequing account to my new ID and then they do in fact fix this ridiculous issue, I would not be able to link my chequing account to my 22 year old account? Unless I removed it from the new one and then added it to the old one...? I'm pretty sure I read only one bank account per ID somewhere. Would that apply to my credit cards as well? Who knows? I'm sure eBay "help" would be useless if I asked them.
So glad I'm getting some answers and help from all of you. Our chat moderator Devon is providing no information or commenting on any of this, and the chat "help" is also just as bad.

What were your limits under this (the old) account? Unless you sold a bunch of stuff and got no feedback on it, it appears as though you just started selling recently so I can't imagine that your limits would be that much different, or am I wrong about that?

If a seller is registered on .com but is located in Canada, they would need to find a Canadian bank that converts USD to CAD in order for it to be used with managed payments.

Technically speaking, Devon's role is more of a liason between board users and eBay staff. There's been a lot of instability in this role over the past year or so. We lost a really good one with a lot of experience this year and the replacements haven't had a chance to establish themselves before being reassigned.
Like the other eBay community liasons, Devon also works on the eBay.com boards; I don't think we Canadians have had a liason that's based out of Canada and only works on the Canadian community boards for many, many years now.
Shifting gears a bit, I found this thread from the beginning of the year that was started with a user with a similar problem, except that his registration data was located in the United Kingdom. I don't know if any of the advice or suggestions given by the liason would work for a Canadian account that's registered in the United States, but if you're feeling creative. . .

No.
All the other information can be the same, but the email has to be unique.
We've been told that we can use the same chequing account for multiple IDs, but while that worked for me for a couple of months (with Simplii and a Canadian dollar account) after a while one of those IDs no longer could be attached to the single bank account and I had to switch to a different one.
It's not unusual for a member to have multiple accounts. Most often these are selling accounts in wildly disparate categories (bible and brassieres for example), or a selling and a buying account, and of course those long standing 0 feedback posting accounts you will run into from time to time, some of whom have very active selling accounts and offer sensible Tough Love advice.

Hello toontown92,
Previously, we asked you to submit information to verify your identity or other details associated with your account. However, it appears that you haven’t provided this information.
Your selling activity has been restricted until we receive the information we need to ensure a safe trading environment for you and the eBay community. We've ended your active listings and your associated listing fees have been credited back to you. While your selling activity is restricted, your payouts may also be placed on hold.
To remove the restriction from your account, please use the link below to log in and provide the required documentation, which is also outlined in the original email you received.
I can't add my banking info because of the glitch that they created. They will keep my money until I demand them to send it to me. They know this. No fix, no help. Automatic restriction in place. 👍Thanks eBay.

Not that ebay said anything directly to me, but I tried entering my bank info for the 30th time?? (because they sent me ANOTHER email stating, "update your info or else")
and it seems to have gone through..... just did it 20 mins ago. We will see if they send me my money eventually 🤷♂️
still screwy that my limit is $200 US dollars... and I have no idea how taxes will work and if I'll be asked to pay taxes in the US... (as it shows me as "in United States" depending on where you look). I have no idea, but that's all just more crazy stuff to deal with later...fun times
