This out-bound item has slipped from tracking. I mailed it Nov 28 but here it is Dec 13 and no tracking updates have been noted since Dec. 7. I think it's safe to assume this was a Christmas gift so I'm worried on behalf of my buyer. What should I do? Is there anything that I can do? The delivery standard was Dec. 6. https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?tRef=fullpage&tLc=2&text28777=&tLabels=CX610697361CA%2C

My golden rule is don't check items in transit!
I very much try to force myself NOT to look up/check tracked items unless a buyer asks for an update.
This is because almost if not 100% of the time, when I've seen worrisome stuff like this or worse updates like "being returned to sender" (which it never has been) they are all misleading updates and the item is or was already delivered. Sometimes I think the CP translation program takes its best guess about what the other POs update meant. As well, especially the USPS loves to use the "being returned to sender" update when it isn't.
Now that the "golden rule" has been broken, do your best not to worry about it. I would not do anything until the buyer initiates something.
I suppose you could get your shipping back from Canada post if you really wanted to do something....although I'm sure that would be a battle too....

There have been recent reports elsewhere (A-river) that USPS has been dealing with overloaded computers due to high volume of parcels with scan info being way behind.

Yes, and I see today on the CP website a banner apologizing for expected delays. I think such things are more or less predictable around this time of year anyway, it's either volume or the weather.

Let sleeping dogs lie, worry about it if the dog wakes up......

Thank you, everyone. I certainly will NOT speak to the buyer about it until they ask but I did go ahead and initiate a trace on it. I'm sure it's fine but, uh, toys and Christmas and Santa and tears.

We have opened a Service Ticket with Canada Post in case this parcel has gone missing.
The buyer did contact us again to get the tracking number even though we did give him
the tracking when we mailed the parcel.
Will wait and see.
