Canceled Basic Store in April. Ebay keeps sending me invoices for monthly fees. Help.

Canceled my basic store towards the end of  April.  It wsa to have renewed May 1.  The store no longer exists but last month i received an invoice for store fees, which after talking to 10 people at Ebay i was able to get reduced to zero.  This month i have received another invoice for store fees.  Not going through customer service again, as they are clearly of no use.

 

Suggestions please.

If by "customer service" you mean the outsourced telephone representatives, anecdotal evidence suggests that you may have better luck with the online chat feature or going through the eBay Facebook or Twitter pages as those are helmed by eBay staff.  (Links to those are at the bottom of the desktop version of the community boards under "Stay  Connected".)

I cancelled my store subscription back during the infamous 2020 lockdown days (here in Ontario anyways) so I can't remember what happened 100% but I'm guessing that maybe since you cancelled your store "towards the end of April" there was maybe not enough time before May 1st for the adminstative side/accounting part of the cancellation so you were automatically billed.

Your calls may have got them to cancel the one invoice but maybe an outstanding balance is still carrying forward.

I don't know if you were on a yearly subscription or monthly but I think for yearly subscribers early termination fees are charged, could it be for that? Also, sometimes depending on when you started there is pro-rated time so that the billing period is in line with the date they invoice everyone.

If memory serves (and it doesn't always!) I thought at the start of the subscription you pay a month ahead (like first and last month rent) so there would be some admin time for them to sort everything out if you did it just before the 1st of the month.

Current store owners may know more than me. Hope you get it worked out soon!

i was on an annual sub. and cancelled it just before my renewal date, so no cancel fees.  I went the chat route and as it turns out, i don't owe any balance, despite receving the invoice.  I asked them to ensure the invoices stop and they said they would see what they could do...

 

Interestingly, the invoice would have let me pay the monthly store fee, because out of curiosity, i clicked on the 'make a payment' link and it said i had a balance owing of one months store fee, despite Ebay customer service confirming i owe nothing.

Would be interesting to know how visible the penalty would be for anyone considering/completing ending a subscription early? I know it's included in the fine print in eBay help.

I found this chart with a google search (its for a .com store) but similar concept. It does seem fairly accurate (aka a ballpark). When I downgraded my store in March they charged me a close to $400 fee which was reversed as it was during the fees waved time frame recently. My Annual store was set to be renewed in July.

Quite often when you look for anything with eBay help on dot com much easier to find current up to date results. Same searches with dot ca can retrieve assorted results. In technical terms....basically a mishmash of cut and paste. As for accuracy best to use your own judgement.

as it turns out, Ebay customer service was wrong (what a shock) and i DO owe basic store fees  even though i  haven't had a basic store since Apriil.  At this point i'm at my wits end with this disorganized mickey mouse company...it's like it's run by high school kids.

 

There is no way to get in touch with the department that keeps sending me invoices for a store i don't own and CS reps have no clue as to what to do or even what is going on.

i just spent a while on the phone with someone i believe was a supervisor and they claim to have fixed the problem.   Believe it when i see it.

 

I think the problem stems from the fact that i sgined up on ebay.com long ago, and when i switched over to managed payments i chose Canadian dollars for payouts.  When they set me up in MP, Ebay created 2 accounts within fergua3, one now inactive USD account and one active CAD account.  The invoices have been coming on my inactive USD account because i'm being billed by .com in USD.  And even though the USD account is inactive, i was still able to receive and pay invoices from it.

 

When i closed my store, my guess is that the inactive account was not informed my store had been closed and is just pumping out invoices every month in its mindless, automated way.

Fingers crossed someone is able to assist you with a fix. Pretty sure I was billed incorrectly when they had the deferred charges for my store  during Covid. Was much back and forth with multiple charges/credits and never was really able to get a clear answer if it was all correct so totally understand your frustrations.

devon@ebay  no, it's not resolved yet but i hope it will be.  You are probably seeing the same thing that CS reps were seing, that my CAD invoice balace is zero.  The problem is that is not the account that the invoice was charged to.  The invoice amount due is charged to the inactive USD account.  The only way for CS reps to see it is to look at the invoice that Ebay sent me (through my messages on ebay) and click 'make a payment'.  

 

When you do that you will see there are two accounts.  An active CAD account with a zero balance owing and an inactive USD account with a $24.80 balance due...that balance being the monthly basic store fee on ebay.com including taxes.  And that is the balance i am trying to get credited so i will owe nothing (this is what was done last month when i got an invoice).  CS has said they would do it but nothing has happened yet.

 

If the invoices don't get turned  off somehow, i will be going through this every single month for the rest of my time on ebay.
