Express Post vs. Priority

I'm shipping an expensive item to Hong Kong and I've been comparing Express Post and Priority.  I need a signature.

I can't see any real difference between the two services.  Is anyone here familiar with the practical differences between the two services?  They look pretty much the same to me.

Oh ho ho. I also had assumed Xpresspost always meant Signature Conformation was available either embedded or as an addiotnal service to purchase. For this reason it is the only international postal service which I offer for my listings of the highest value, as per requirements of Paypal Seller Protection. But this passage makes it sounds slapdash, like maybe it's there for a certain destinations and maybe it's not. Am I reading that correctly?

I'd be very surprised if the selection of destinations on which Xpresspost has SC is slapdash, but more likely based on specific criteria known only to Canada Post and/or the foreign postal services involved.   I've never seen anything on the CPC website that specifically explained this for the various destinations.  Perhaps someone else has.

"...slapdash, like maybe it's there for a certain destinations and maybe it's not..."  You misunderstand. Please don't make the assumption that I thought Canada Post assigned this on a slapdash basis. My intent was that the Signature Confirmation feature is either there or it isn't for each destination and that the sender must investigate which of the two it is.

Here is a Canada Post document called International Shipping Chart with all countries Canada Post ships to and the CP shipping services available for a country with features for the service summarized in an easy to read table format. This document has been around for years and is updated regularly with the current document date January 15, 2018. I have posted this link many times since it is very helpful. Bookmark it in your browser since the Canada Post site is difficult to navigate and ever changing making it difficult to find this document.

For Xpresspost, please note that it is available for select countries (about 70) and when it is not, International Parcel Air service is available. Xpresspost has signature confirmation only included for Xpresspsot USA, all other countries have signature confirmation for a fee.

Here is a Canada Post web page with all the details of Xpresspost. This page is long and detailed so read carefully. The signature confirmation feature being included for Xpresspsot USA is buried deep in the document in footnote #3 at the end of the page!

This CP web page is a nicer summary of Xpresspost US and shows signature confirmation is included more clearly.

In the past there were some discussions in these forums about Xpresspost USA and signature confirmation option not being available on the PayPal shipping page. The page was poorly designed and there was no option to select signature confirmation because it was included. It was confusing because the PayPal page did not explicitly state it was included.

As for he confusion about Xpresspost International having signature confirmation included, this was most likely because Xpresspost USA did have it included and made sellers this it was for for Xpresspost International. Because Xpresspost USA was used more often that Xpresspost International, it may be the source of the confusion.
