Major issue with managed payments...

As part of another thread Tyler posted this"

"okay, with that out of the way, here's what I've found (fancy speak follows):

Currently, when your account is activated on managed payments (not just pre-registered but actually 'turned on' for your account), you will not be able to directly create listings on any international* eBay websites. Any of your existing listings on international eBay sites that do not support international sales for your region will be ended and applicable fees credited automatically.

We are continuously working to improve the managed payments experience for our sellers, and we will be expanding our international sales support in the coming months.

*International is defined as any eBay site that isn't your 'home' site.

My interpretation is, disclaimers in mind:

If your account is activated on (^) managed payments, and your listings are all listed on eBay Canada and offer international shipping they are allowed and can sell without issue.

If your account is activated and you are listing directly on a different site (like .com or UK) those listings would be ended. Because of the way International Site Visibility works, those listings would also be ended if the feature is not turned off.

However, this is mostly temporary until such time as cross-listing is supported (scuttlebutt says that it will be much sooner than later, but nothing definitive). If a majority of your listings are listed directly on other sites you are still able to pre-register, but your account would not be activated until multi-site listing is supported. " end of quote from Tyler

This is huge issue for those of us that sell on both .ca and .com. I keep about 1000 listings each on .com and .ca and was supposed to register for mp earlier this month but have not.

We need clarification on this!

...welcome to eBay, where common sense and forward-thinking left the building a decade ago, others would say longer...

Thank god, I refused to sign up to this fiasco, and we are not even out of the gate yet!!

Shopify or die...

yes no common sense, customer service, or clarity

The scary part is:

"If your account is activated and you are listing directly on a different site (like .com or UK) those listings would be ended. "

This is very worrisome and looks like as much work as the switch from being unable to list on dotCA in US dollars was a few years back.

At least then, eBay was able to supply a relatively easy way to change our listings.

And of course.

China.

Some nitwit did not realize that most Chinese sellers, some of them *H*U*G*E* money makers for eBay are listing on dotCOM from Shanghai or Wuhan or Guandong. While most of the really big guys would have American bank accounts, the medium guys, selling only 10s of thousands of items a month, may not.

And eBay's policy just closed all their listings.

EBay should be checking the parking lot for cars with Trump2020 bumperstickers.

If you are a seller who sells on other sites ebay.ca has said you DO NOT need to switch to managed payments until that issue is fixed.

I sell on both but received the must register email. We need clarification.

I think others who also sell on .COM have identified in other threads the fact that after they register, their "move" is delayed until MP is able to support .COM listings.

I'd like to see something official...not that eBay keeps it's word anyway, remember the promise that the features of Turbolister would be incorporated into seller flub?

As per the announcement yesterday I think they'll have more details about how to handle this in the next announcement on August 8. My gut told me to wait and see before setting up my listings for .com or .ca for exactly this reason. I've always switched mine back and forth in Turbo Lister and I know some others here do this too, but I have to assume eBay will need to make a new tool for this if many sellers will be impacted.

Hi @widgetc - there have been several members here who have pre-registered and received emails telling them that their activation is delayed until payments is able to support listing on .com and .ca.

In the payments Weekly Chat (this one I believe) it was confirmed that for sellers listing on both sites that this would be the case.

Thanks!

The problem with zombie threads is that the advice may be out of date, incorrect, or irrelevant.
