The item was shipped using an Ebay UPS label, is it possible they're referring to UPS's account? Guess I have to call them.

I had a damage claim for UPS and jumped through all the required hoops. In the end they said it was approved and the funds were sent to eBay even though I was clearly listed as the seller and shipper. I sent a registered letter to eBay Canada and there was no answer. Now I ship large fragile items through Fedex.

You could also ship those items using a 3rd party labels company. Some of them offer their own claims process and even their own additional insurance. If you want to know about people's thoughts of Fedex, just do a search of these forums.

I was never able to solve for this earlier this year. The item was damaged, I had all the pictures, but there is no way to open a claim directly with UPS, as it's eBay's account, and eBay doesn't have a way to open the claim. Dead end.

The problem with claims and CP/UPS/Fedex is eBay OWNS the account number on file. (attached to your shipment when using ebay labels.) Made even more difficult because often the phone number of the receiver is either no longer valid or not on file. The back up is email addy but the one on file with ebay is usable inside of ebay only. Not between 3rd parties and customer. If your shipping method is unable to contact customer often it leads to claim being dead ended. Once buyer is refunded they aren't usually cooperative when it comes to sellers part of trying to get their money back. Sadly eBay does not see this as a problem. I've gone through this experience with eBay labels on several occasions. It was never an issue with Shippo/PayPal or CP directly.
@prescilaschina With CP depending on the agent you speak with when making a claim you have a better chance they will understand that you were the physical sender and working off an eBay account number. When it comes to claims the more info you can provide the more likely it will be approved.
