eBay International Shipping Canadian Hub

I sold something recently that someone purchased from Poland. I sent the items to the shipping hub in Mississauga. Everything went smoothly and was super happy with the service.

So, now I sold something to someone in the United States. When I wanted to print off the shipping label, Canada Post wasn't an option - only FedEX and UPS. I was under the impression that with this International Shipping that the United States is also included?? That you ship it to the Hub and they take care of the rest?

Anyhow, I got so frustrated, that I cancelled the order to the United States just to save me the headache of all the paperwork, etc.

Can anyone confirm if the US falls under the International Shipping, or, are we responsible for all the paperwork etc. ? Is there somewhere I can turn off "shipping to the United States"? I looked all over and could not find it.

Re: eBay International Shipping Canadian Hub

Thanks again.

Consider this a general "exploration" not a plea for troubleshooting.   Given EIS is new to sellers and eBay Canada we're learning how it functions. silent visitors to the forum benefit as well.

My view.

  EIS offers seller benefits that kick into place during the trip from the hub to the buyer. Until we understand the seller to hub journey, any workarounds IE: key word manipulations or category substitutions aren't warranted or necessary.  Using the normal correct "keys & cats"  should be enough. I'm not interested in forcing anything to work but simply understanding why it isn't working.

This experiment/discussion proves what Devon, @marnotom! and @recped have said.

Devon from eBay

"We are hearing plenty of feedback and questions related to item exclusions and restrictions based on country. While we’re also continuously working to refine our criteria,

we have heard the request from sellers to more easily see which items have eIS restrictions applied and are exploring a solution to help sellers identify listings impacted by eligibility requirements."

"Our item exclusions may include items that, while not wholly restricted, require additional hurdles for border clearance in our system that we cannot currently support. It can also vary for the same item based on the origin and destination country."

The problem is out in the open. We should clarify the discussion for the silent visitors.  The EIS widget compliance or unfortunate rejection is what this discussion is about. It is different from  "country restrictions due to import rules".   To go to the latter topic Visitors can read Devon's Seller Central thread "Ask Us Anything: eBay International Shipping Canada".

Yes, that's why I don't have any listings going at all right now. Just not up for the battle.

Hoping there will be a sliver of light in the horizon.

Re: eBay International Shipping Canadian Hub

Was the listing on dotCOM ? EIS doesn't work for dotCOM listings.

You can buy Canada Post labels directly from Canada Post, but you need a Zonos label and they will charge you $1.99 PLUS 10% of the import fees including the Trump Tariff.

Me too.  I was able to ship via Canada Post to the US and the labels were present for me to select (and Canada Post option also selected by the buyer).  For me, it might be because I sell vinyl records/CD's which are not impacted by the changes to "di minimus".

This may have been answered somewhere else, but is it Required to ship with the carrier that the buyer selected? or can we ship with a different carrier if we want to?

This is taken from the “Program Rules” section of the eIS Canada Terms and Conditions for Sellers (https://pages.ebay.ca/internationalshippingprogram/seller/terms/ )

My interpretation is that it’s the same as a shipment sent directly to the buyer: you can upgrade the shipping at your own expense if you wish but you can’t do a downgrade and pocket the difference.

Remember, the buyer can't actually choose the shipping method to the hub if they choose to have you use eIS.  eIS is their choice of "carrier".

Did I understand your question correctly, @transtraders?

My understanding is that you can't downgrade the service. So if they chose an expedited option, you should be able to send it with another expedited option. In general you probably should send it with what they selected if at all possible. I use generic standard shipping along with rate tables, so I can basically send items with any service I like.

Note that UPS ground is considered a standard service, not expedited, even though it's often faster than the other expedited options.

@msau4301

@**klondikemike**

Until eIS has a hub in the west, western sellers will be paying substantially more for shipping  anything CP expedited going to hub. Same goes for sellers off the beaten track or in the maritimes due to "granular rates" that ebay recently negotiated. Then you have to factor in the 13% sales tax on postage (No sales tax on tracked for USA/Intl) + 21.5 % fuel surcharge for Domestic vs the 12 to 14% for USA/Intl. Factor in those increased costs/FVF's on the new totals and eIS is not such a bargain for everyone.

As a side if someone could post a screenshot of where the eIS option shows in seller preferences it would be greatly appreciated. 😌

@flipistics

Merci, gracias, danke and thank you. Mine is still mia. Unsure of the reason behind selective/filtered enrollment unless eBay is still in major test mode?

The announcmenet post suggests using what you prefer:

"When an item sells, send it to our Canadian hub using your preferred shipping service."
