I have the very real feeling that eBay hates the sellers - why else would they make things so difficult for us, and then bill us so much? The 2011 Fall updates....the latest indication of how little you mean to them.....
Of course, this is meant in fun. I always have the choice to sell on other sites - but I chose to sell here (for now), so I am just rolling with the puches (so to speak) and seeing how things turn out..
So I type this poll with a smile on my face, and lets see what everyone else thinks?

I wouldn't say they give one hoot about us one way or the other. It has nothing to do with like or dislike.
They do lack respect for the sellers. Constantly taking steps to micro-manage our businesses undermines our ability to think for ourselves and to manage our own businesses.

I'm singing along with Aretha Franklin on this one.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
There was a very good article on CBC Sunday Morning today. The head of UoT's Rothman School of Business was saying that in his opinion that businesses went off track in 1976 when "building shareholder value" became the new mantra, instead of building a company that made money by serving the customer.
He uses the NFL as his analogy (he has a book out). The idea is that the players play the game but are kept entirely separate,by harsh and permanent penalties, from all the point-spread gambling that is the "reason" so many people watch or follow the games. Not being a football fan, I had to have this explained to me.
In the stock market, he believes that CEOs are too closely tied to stock market results with the effect that research and development, customer satisfaction, and society (including employee relations) fall by the wayside.
His picture book example of good companies were Johnson and Johnson, which has apparently ignored the "work to the quarterly report" ethos and Microsoft which, for all its faults, does provide products that improve their customers lives.
Anyway. Warren Buffet is right. I hear he is giving investment advice to God and all the saints nowadays.

I don't understand why paypal and Ebay charges Sellers so much and Buyers get away with everything, they can even left negative feedback.
Also they can make bucks just to sign up with Paypal. When we sellers are charged.
The Final Value is ridiculously high. You are getting charged 3 times. Listing, Final Value, and Paypal charges, and when U list in US, the exchange is also charged.
You have to buy very, very low and sell high to make a dollar on this site. Just because this site is so popular I am on it or I will be on Wensy.com.
Most times I just break even. No profit, what U buy at, you make the same, why bother EH!, but U have to get rid of all that U have.

" don't understand why paypal and Ebay charges Sellers so much"
It is easy....because they can!
As long as sellers are willing to pay the fees, eBay will take them and say "thank you"!
Despite regular and constant fee increases over the years, the overall number of listings keep increasing and the total value of all merchandise sold on eBay keeps growing. Despite all its technical and policy problems, eBay must be doing something right or sellers would all go elsewhere.
As far as PayPal is concerned, their fee schedule is quite competitive with other online payment services. Sellers do NOT have to offer and use PayPal. There are other online options available for eBay sellers. However, when one makes an honest analysis of all options, PayPal keeps coming in on top for most sellers.
Nobody needs to list in US$. Sellers generally do because they expect higher auction prices or faster turnover of fixed price listings. Once again, sellers have choices.
If you barely break even, you should consider other venues, other lines of products or lower priced suppliers.

Don't be silly! Why would eBay and its management hate the sellers? It is the sellers that make this possible:
John J Donahoe's Compensation vs. Retailing MediansSalary$0.92 mil
$1.06 milBonus$1.90 mil$2.10 mil
Other$6.69 mil$1.56 mil
Stock Gains$1.01 mil$0.08 mi
lTotal Compensation$10.51 mil$6.04 mil
Meanwhile back at the ranch (that is eBay) sellers can only charge actual cost of shipping but cannot charge for their labor to pack item or for their time or expense in getting the package to the post office.
10-29-2011 02:20 PM
Not only that, they want us to ship it for free too!
10-30-2011 11:42 PM
"Free Shipping" is code for "shipping costs are included in the asking price".
Same with our labour costs, we are not allowed to state what goes into the "handling" cost, but c'mon guys, you know that it includes more than bubblewrap and insurance.
Actually on handling costs, in my opinion, it is no more the customer's business what makes up our pricing than the name of our suppliers or how much we pay for the goods we sell or whether or not we list in our jammies.

Sellers are eBay's bread and butter.
Why should eBay hate sellers?
Basically... many of the sellers, that are still on eBay ... made adjustments as the years passed day-by-day
And if you make the right adjustments... eBay does work
But sellers have to persevere and not give up.
started selling in January 2003... and still here...
Not perfect but OK .....

well, how are we going to 'adjust' to eBay latest change? This morning I was doing a search on .COM and the 1st thing I was asked at the top of the search results page was where I wanted to search, for items located in USA only (the default is USA only), North America only or Worldwide? I thought when I listed on .COM my items would be shown to everybody. Guess not.
Merry Christmas from eBay!

For those who have not:
Damn! There goes my breakfast.

eBay loves sellers! We are the reason they are rich.
Do they give a damn about sellers or their opinions or their concerns? My experience, to date, says that is a resounding NO.
