Wow, the GSP looks really silly now. I don't know why anybody from Canada has bought from me!

Alex

Indeed.  Just think how many more sales to people outside of the US you might have had if there was no GSP on your listings.

The other big concern with the GSP is, no matter how well you pack your items, that is all undone at the hub where it is opened and repacked usually with all the protective packing removed.

Is there a shipping calculator for items that do not go GSP?

Yes and you would request USPS First Class if you sell stuff to be mailed in a box or bulky parcel.

For small items that can go as Letter rate just put a flat rate in.

A lot depends on what you are actually selling.

Go to the USPS website - all their rates and options are listed.

Maybe do a little more research so you can offer the best postage deal for your customers.

Re: April 6th 2016 Weekly Session

<< I never thought that this Weekly Session would turn into yet another GSP thread. I only wanted to mention the

tinkering that seems to be going on with the program while Canadian buyers are left in the dark. I also wanted to

reiterate the need for a GSP filter, which the comments made to this thread tend to illustrate.>>

It is good that you brought it up, and you made some excellent points, as always.  So did the others here, and we

all got to hear some well-told stories about it.  I enjoyed this diversion and I suspect so did the other contributors.

It is a shame this frank, honest, friendly, free and refreshingly candid chat could not have happened on the actual

GSP threads, but I think everyone here knows why that is not possible, . . . and has not been for some time.

Sadly.

Still, nice to see a sincere and productive exchange of views on the GSP from a multiplicity of posters is entirely

possible in the right environment.  Very enjoyable indeed. Smiley Happy

Re: April 6th 2016 Weekly Session

The only thing I would add to the GSP fiasco, is NO combined shipping.

Raphael my name is not tia, hehe, tia=Thanks In Advance.

Regarding all these free listings if you list the item in CDN, they don't kick in until you have used up your Monthly's. so what is the point of changing any items to CDN if the listing is charged to your free monthly allotment. I would be starting to change some of them now, but it's not worth the time yet.

Also years ago I purchased the Flat Rate Boxes, only to see ebay discontinue the service, I still have a few left over, not sure if I can use them.

Yes, I could turn them inside out, and use them as regular boxes, but feel that I was ripped off by ebay, when supplies I had paid for were no longer usable for their stated purpose.

HI Raphael, I hope that when you have a chance you will be responding on the sellers update board to some of the questions there.

I can understand the reasoning for the update regarding mobile listings but is anyone looking into the free shipping glitch that seems to happen on the mobile ap?  There have been dozens of reports on both .ca and .com about buyers seeing free shipping in a listing when looking on their phone even though shipping was not free.

Hi pjcdn,

Thanks for the report. We have seen this happen before. I'll alert the Mobile team.

Hi ecgt,

Happy to help. I went in and tried the combine function for these items, and got as far as the page where I could change the shipping and sent a new invoice. I'm guessing the error usually shows up after that? I'd like to keep going to reach the error but I would need to know what details you were going to change on the invoice in case it ends up working, I wouldn't want to send a wrong invoice to your buyer.

Any way you could send me a private email with all the details? Please include all details on how you were going to send the invoice. reach me at raphael@ebay.com. Thanks!

I have come realize since March / April 2010 I was unknowingly / mistakenly, call it what you will, subscribed to Selling Manager Pro for ebay.com on top of ebay.ca assuming they were one in the same all these years, free / included with the corresponding subscription offered at those times.

Getting 15.99 credited for ebay.ca Selling Manager Pro all these years, but I was also getting charged 15.99 USD (converted to CAD) for ebay.com Selling Manager Pro with no Credit.

Am I wrong to pursue a possible credit for this error, or would I be wasting my time, since this feature never benefited my sales in anyway, only cost me money for something that was never used on ebay.com.

Hello merritt-motorcycle-salvage,

SMPro comes with your Store subscription. Is it possible that you may have subscribed to SMPro on eBay.com at some time, and got the same on eBay.ca when you subscribed to a store there? That would explain why you get the credit on eBay.ca and not on eBay.com.

If you don't use SMPro on eBay.com, you should unsubscribe there. That won't affect your SMPro on eBay.ca. Alternatively, you could downgrade to SM (not Pro) on eBay.com. SM is free and is the same as SMPro, minus some marketing tools like auto-generated emails and some additional reporting features.

Hi rose-dee,

1)  Will there be somewhere in the listing feature/SYI form where a seller can write his/her own summary, rather than leaving this to the eBay bots to do arbitrarily, and will that seller-created summary supersede any automated summary?

Yes, that will be done with the HTML tagging as I have explained in my last post on this same subject.

2)  I've used Auctiva for years, which has a scrolling gallery for listings and beautiful listing frames.  Are these "active content" (I assume so).  Sadly, this means that my most unique items, which sell especially well when featured in an attractive frame, may have to have "plain Jane" descriptions.  Or will it matter if I continue to use this kind of content, if I know that most of my buyers are not mobile users?

Yes a scrolling gallery is active content and it will no longer be supported in the listing description. eBay is working with Auctiva to ensure that their templates will be compliant by the time we implement these changes.

Thanks Raphael - I see my problem is here on the list. Just tried to do 8 all at once - each had individual Tracking Numbers - yup - problem is still there. 7 reflected the correct Track # and the problem 1 displayed 3 #'s (oh such fun). I got rid of that one and tried with the 7 that seemed fine - still won't work properly.

Hi pacificwinds6875,

Thanks for trying again and confirming the issue is still there. I'm working with the shipping team on this.

Hello again. Back on that other thread, the Spring Update one, I posted more about my concern regarding Product Reviews, including an example of what apparently passes for 'fine' elsewhere and I am looking for some reassurance that this won't be the case on ebay. Are you going back to that thread as well?

Yes I'm doing my best to respond to both threads. I'll get to the other one a bit later today.

Hi Raphael  -  I have a question about the "active content" rule coming into effect later this year.  I have used the Auctiva scrolling gallery in most of my listings for many years.  Can you please tell us if this feature will have to be removed from our listings when the "active content" rule comes into effect.  Thanks!

Hi forester_studios,

We are working with Auctiva to ensure that their templates will be compliant with this new rule once these changes come into effect. You shouldn't have to change your listing habits, but just to be sure you should watch for any notice from Auctiva about these changes as well.

That's the way all ZIF promos work, I think. Our intent with this promo is to make sure sellers who start converting or moving their listings now don't get additional insertion fees as a result, if they ran out of monthly free listings.

When we retired these, ample notice was given and Canada Post honoured the service for quite some time. Sorry that you're left with these boxes. That's all they are now, boxes.

Hi Pierre,

That's sorcery!

Just kidding. This is normal. The supplies aren't offered in Canadian dollars, look at the item pages. You see Canadian dollars (as do I) because you are located in Canada. Store pages show items in the currency that is relevant to the buyer based on their location.

"that is relevant to the buyer based on their location."

Buyer?  Canadians CANNOT buy!  That is the real problem.

Since we cannot buy, why show them at all, let alone in Cdn$?

Re: April 6th 2016 Weekly Session

Five days later and the problem is still there.

I tried a different promotion yesterday using the Markdown Manager with a message to be sent to members on my list.

It stayed as "pending" for half a day until the status was changed to "failed - try again"  Following eBay's instructions, once more, I duplicated the message to find out this morning that it failed again!

How long will it take for someone at eBay to look at the problem and find a solution?

Re: April 6th 2016 Weekly Session

I don't think I was ever able to successfully send a duplicated email if the original failed, for whatever reason. I had to recreate it and try again.

Pierre- that's just how eBay Stores work. Not something special about this store or these items.
