Benefits of being a POWER SELLER

Hi Everyone;

This is our first ever post. We are New Power Sellers & to be honest We are really disappointed with the lack of advantages of the PS program.

We become PS in May. Only 3 months after joining ebay & the PS page info has yet to change. The info is outdated. There has yet to be any exclusive PS benefits.

The Canada Post benefits are finished. Yet they remain listed. Nothing except a Piece of paper telling us that in " RECONGNITION OF OUTSATNDING PERFORMANCE BLAH BLAH BLAH "

My ten year old could have printed this on his computer.

My wife & I work hard 7 days a week. Ebay if you would really like to show your appreciation then do it.

Start by going out on the road. We live in Montreal. Yes 60% of the citizens are french speaking, But last time I check we were still part of Canada & many of us hope to remain that way. Ebay has yet to ever step into this city.

Update your PS page. Give us access to the U.S PS page.
Send us something that cost you more than $1.00.

Give us 1 day a month of something. It's not like Ebay would lose money. The more they give the more we list, the more money everyone makes. Seems to me it's just common sense. Spend money make money.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Lamia & James:

You can access the U.S. Powersellers board here:

Great post. As you've probably noticed this board is currently about the only real and ongoing benefit of being a Powerseller.

Cheers,
Ernie.

Ditto 🙂 from Montreal also.

"The info is outdated. There has yet to be any exclusive PS benefits... The Canada Post benefits are finished. Yet they remain listed. Nothing except a Piece of paper telling us that in " RECONGNITION OF OUTSATNDING PERFORMANCE"

A reflexion of how eBay.CA views its PS.

"Start by going out on the road. We live in Montreal. Yes 60% of the citizens are french speaking, But last time I check we were still part of Canada & many of us hope to remain that way. Ebay has yet to ever step into this city."

This has been said time and time again. We always need reinforcement. LOL

Welcome to the Canadian PS Board!

There are some pretty nice people on this Board, wait until you meet them 🙂

Hi Lamia & James,

Welcome to the PS board and also to the only real benefit of gaining PS status! This board, and the US one, are your best resources if you have any eBay or PayPal related problems - there's almost always someone who has gone through every imaginable problem with eBay and solved it, and they're willing to share the solutions! All we have to do is ask!!

And there are no political or geographic barriers here - we're all in the same eBay boat. So, welcome aboard!!

Hi Again;

Thanks fellow PS for your imput. We look forward to getting to know everyone a little better. I will say this about ebay, at least it's given my wife & I freedom to work from home. We set our own schedule. It would just be nice of Ebay would put in as much effort into us as we all do into them.

Thanks everyone again

Welcome to the Powerseller board !

Again there are no benefits to being a Powerseller. Its simply a way for Ebay to motivate the seller to list MORE auctions. This leads to increase there profits. Unfortunately ,you are on your own. But there are very nice members that can help you answer your questions on this board.

The CP power seller discount, granted only for domestic, is a significant benefit for those of us who don't have the volume to otherwise get a deal.

I would like to add that the real benefit to PS status is the use of the LOGO. I think that too many people here forget what it is like to be a BUYER. I know they look for the PS logo, and if there is a choice between two sellers, they will bid higher for an item with a PS logo.

I did it myself just the other day. I bought a DVD. I could have bought from someone with or without PS status. I selected the one with PS status.

It is just another peice of the trust puzzle. The feedback, the well made auctions, the policies... It all builds a safe welcome mat, in a place where dangers lurk for buyers (and sellers).

I would love it if eBay had Powerbuyer Status. Sort of like confirmed, but carries with it a trust component.

It's all good, and it doesn't cost a thing.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Personally I don't think that the Powerseller logo is a benefit. You can sell just as well with a good feedback and good item description(If you are honest the buyers will come). People will notice. I think it is true that there is a "lack" powerseller benefits. And this page is not updated on a regular basis.

I agree with Frederic and would add that there are many people on eBay who AVOID Powersellers.

The Powerseller program isn't tied to any kind of transaction quality scale, but is based on total sales per month. This doesn't lead to any kind of improved trust or safety from the seller.

Many buyers have been burned by Powersellers and actually view the logo as a warning sign that the seller may be too busy to address customer support issues.

One of the biggest sellers on eBay, for example, who I won't name but whose ID begins with "J" 😉 does not have any kind of real customer support. If something goes wrong with your order, too bad for you. J isn't the only Powerseller that has this attitude.

Cheers,
Ernie.

I sure as heck hope you don't mean me?!? 😉 😛 Not all "J's" are bad ya know. 😄

The requirements for PowerSeller are going to be changing soon to help make the logo actually mean something besides a sales quota. You also have to live up to the ideals of the eBay community. They announced some of this at eBay Live and there was an announcement too but I can't remember where it is right now. Have you noticed though that in the listing violations sections they list Loss of PowerSeller Status as a repercussion of certain violations? Hey, it's a start right. :)

LOL. Not all J's are bad.. gotcha!

I have noticed that in the past year some of the biggest powersellers have been shut down. They were notorious for constant abuse of eBay's rules so I'm glad eBay finally found a spine and dealt with them.

I am glad that eBay is dealing with the tarnished Powerseller image, and hopefully it will work, but it will take some time for some people to regain trust in the logo.

Ernie.

I have to agree with Ernie. I, myself try to stay away from PS when I make purchases; its due to the fact that "most" do not have the time to be answereing your questions and giving you customer services.

I agree with Ernie too. I don't display my PS logo because I've seen too many people say they don't or won't buy from PS's.

Rosane,
You say you don't buy from Powersellers. BUT you sell with a Powersellers logo. Then do you mean not to buy from someone that has a PS logo ?
