Erlanger shipping center sent my package to Chicago instead of Toronto

I bought an item from a vendor in Indiana. I live in Toronto. The item was shipped to Erlanger Ky to the global shipping centre and from there, instead of the item being sent to Toronto directly, as has been the case in all my previous purchases, it was shipped instead all the way back to Chicago, Il and handed over to the USPS. This seems like a waste of time and resources or perhaps a mistake.

Is this "normal routing" or a change in policy of the Global Shipping Program?

Any insight on this would be appreciated.

Jeff

Don't panic.

Your package may be in Chicago, but it has your address on it and will eventually get to you.

And just because the internet says it is in Chicago, doesn't mean it really is.

If you are not home when it does arrive, the carrier (probably Canada Post) will leave you a notice telling you where and when you can pick it up (probably at the local postal outlet the next day).

That's normal. If you live in Toronto or any part of the country served by that hub, most mail is routed out of the USA via Chicago.
