How much does a Seller's PS Status mean to you when making a purchase?

I never really gave this much thought until I was posting a reply on another thread.

I always felt that I sold as much or even more when I wasnt a PS and I know that there are buyers who never purchase from a PS.

Anyway, here is the order of priorities when I am looking at buying something:

1. Item is something I want
2. I believe I can get it at a decent price
3. (a) 1st choice: Seller is in Canada (b) 2nd choice: Seller is in the US
3. If in the US, does seller ship via USPS (if other I am looking at potentially high brokerage charges).
4. What are posted shipping charges
5. Recent comments left for seller
6. How recent are negs left (if any) and is there any trend towards increase or decrease and reason given for negs.
7. FB score
8. Average $ value of sales compared to what I am buying
9. Method of payment preferred
10. Is seller a PS

At the end of the day, being a PS is not that important when I make a purchase realizing what it takes to become a PS and seeing how many fall well below my expectations of Sellers upholding the values of eBay, being the pillars of the eBay culture and society etc.

I would sooner deal with someone who sells responsibly but ocassionally on eBay and has a good relationship with their clients than someone who simpy meets the quarterly criteria for being a Power Seller.

Does anyone else, place the PS status much higher when making a purchase from a Seller on eBay?

Nope not me...I look for want or need, then pricing, preferably from Canada, then elsewhere. If I cannot get it on E-Bay...I don't need it.LOL Truthfully, I have never really looked for my seller to be of PS status. I buy my wax boxes of a guy who sells hundreds of boxes and could easily be a PS but chooses not to be. Works for him. I would agree that having PS status as seller is of any benefit in terms of selling more. I think buyers tend to think that powersellers are big time sellers which sell thousands of dollars worth of product and are would not pay attention to the customer.
I think people like the fact if you sell something on E-Bay, without PS status, with a good feedback rating, it tends to be a more personal transaction instead of an e-mail that says the samething everytime you buy an item from a PSer.
I know when I sell an item, I always address the buyer with their first name, and it seems to trigger a response almost 9 times out of 10.
In closing I think Malcolm has a point from the buyer perspective.
Kelly.

Ooops, I wish we could edit our posts. Should say I would agree that having PS status as seller is NOT of any benefit in terms of selling more.
