Never List on Ebay.ca

A couple of years ago, in my first on-line dialogue with Canada's country manager, I inquired as to why I wasn't able to find my ebay.ca listings on ebay.com. I was basically dismissed and told that I didn't know what I was talking about because all listings on ebay.ca got equal exposure on ebay.com.

Here are my current listings, including the 30 that I listed today with the eBay.ca promotion, on ebay.ca: http://search.ebay.ca/_W0QQsassZsystemagic

Total listings = 152.

Here are my current listings on eBay.com: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ50QQsassZsystemagic

Total listings = 122

Note: Naturally, with listings expiring daily, these pages will change for anyone not viewing them currently. There should be a disparity of 30 for about a week however.

This is proof positive that Ebay.ca listings don't get equal exposure in the much more vast US market.

This means that, unless there's a promotion, or you sell Canadiana, or there's some other reason to limit your sales to the much smaller market - NEVER LIST ON EBAY.CA.

Never List on Ebay.ca

That's pretty strange.

I listed a dozen or so items on the .ca site yesterday: here are my comparisons:

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZzarzuella

http://search.ebay.ca/_W0QQsassZzarzuella

the number of items is exactly the same - 1441. Maybe there is some other reason for your discrepancy?

Just a guess, but perhaps it is because your auctions are set up to ship only to Canada. If they are listed on .com they will, of course, show up on .com. But when they are listed on .ca and only available to ship to Canada...the system sees no reason to list them on .com.

Thanks, so much, Monique, for noticing and pointing this out. Your voice is always a thoughtful and pleasant one on this board. My own has grown curmudgeonly since the downturn in both sales and profits since 2005 - so I don't post very often anymore.
I can't imagine how many worldwide sales I've lost over the years because my eBay.ca listings were erroneously listed as "Sends to Canada". I expect that, with my very first. eBay.ca listing I must have assumed that my previous "Worldwide" defaults would carry forward. No wonder I was getting less than a 2% sell-through rate on the eBay.ca fall promotions. (I also heard on a financial program on TV that eBay Christmas sales were down.)
I just spent a good part of the day altering my current listings as well as many more within Turbo Lister. (EBay's 'Edit Shipping Details" feature currently has a loopy glitch that makes it take about 5 times longer than it should)

It sure is nice to have access to the wisdom on this disscusion board. Thank-you!
