credit card statement $18.34.we can do math in canada and this is backwards.shouldnt i have been billed $17.64.what is this sh

I bought an item, the total with shipping was 17.99.U.S.D.when i got to paying it said $1 canadian=.98U.S. it said i would see on my credt

Bank, credit cards, Paypal etc all charge a fee when exchanging different currencies. The rate can vary but Paypal's usual rate is 2.5% and it looks like that is what you were charged.

Buy an item and one can reasonably assume the seller has built in profit margin. Same for buying currency.
