Is a seller allowed to refuse a higher offer for an item not auctioned??

The item is NOT for auction.

A seller lists an item for 30 days under buy it now or make an offer (Best Offer) at $275.00. After 10 days of the listing I make an offer of $219.00 and on 11th day the offer is refused by the seller.

Now on the 20th day, I receive the a notice from ebay saying that I did not win the item, the item sold for $200.00.

It does not make sense that a seller would sell an item for less than an earlier higher offer.

Is a seller allowed to refuse or reject a higher offer? Is the seller allowed to sell at a lower price than first offered that is not auctioned?? Does ebay stand behind this business practice???

Although this is usually unenforceable, and also a stupid business practice, the seller is allowed to refuse any customer that he wants during the life of the auction.

Sellers can also set up automatic Blocks on bidders, some by name(if they have been problem customers in the past for example) or generally for being reported as deadbeats, or living in places the seller does not want to ship to.

He can't refuse a buyer. If you had simply bought the item at the list price, he would have had to accept you.
