I just recieved this email from buyer.
'I would like to know if the radio was sent back to you due to the fact that the sender was away from home.'
This is how I responded:
'Hi G...... I am not sure what you mean by: "the sender was away from home" This information from the United States Postal Service Web Site is as follows:
2013/02/15 10:36 95630,USA Item successfully delivered
Delivered on February 15, 1213 at 10.36 AM.
Perhaps you can give me some more information.'
I smell a rat here. If the tracking number tell me the package was delivered - can he claim it wasn't and win a dispute.

Sound strange Ross, but i cannot honestly answer your question.
Someone will have the answer.

You should be safe on that one Ross. Unless of course the buyer can somehow prove that it was delivered to the wrong house, in which case he/she should have been able to retrieve it from there.

I've had the same happen to me in the past. I was covered by paypal because of the delivery confirmation. So you are ok.
I will add though, I had contacted Canada Post, and In the end, it was in fact the fault of Canada Post. Their was a confusion with postal cards, and the buyers parcel was sitting in the mail depot, and had not actually been delivered to the buyer.

Without signature confirmation tracking doesn't mean much .. If the buyer say I did not receive they can fight and win the case .. Happen to me 2 times now even though it showed delivered paypa sided with buyer but when that happen i blew a gasket and paypal gaqve me the $$$ out of there pocket

I guess in the event of worse case scenario - if he insists that he did not recieve the package and I lose the PayPal dispute. I make a claim with Canada Post - if he claims he did not receive it will Canada Post compensate me, or will they tell me as far as they are concerned it was delivered?

I had the same situation as you, ross. Only difference was that the buyer was in Canada.
I shipped a parcel by Expedited Parcel. The next day, tracking confirmed that it was delivered (no signature). The following day, the buyer sent me a message saying that they haven't gotten anything. I called CP, they opened up an investiagtion. A few days later the buyer messaged me saying that he got the item, and to tell CP that he got it.

Yes Cp will still refund you if the buyer claims they did not receive .. I had it happen with a $90 item and even though it showed delivered cp still refunded me

That doesn't sound right unless the item was over $250 U.S. I'm curious as to what exactly happened.

I got my money from cp both times and from paypal the one time...
don't know why paypal decided to refund me out of there pocket but i was very upset..
1 tha paypal refunded was steelbooks to germany buyer filed INR won even though tracking showed delivered .. I called paypal freaked out then calm down very quickly after 5 minutes in the phone they refunded me $182 out of there pocket.. WHY ? i don't really know.. CP Also refunded me because i filed and complained about everything to everyone right away...
The other time the buyer did not file case "my bad" they just said they didn't receive and even though the tracking showed delivered they said it did not arrive and CP within 30 das sent me a check ..

The package of DVD was returned to me from New Brunswick as "no such address, wrong address" even it is a right address. It was sent by Expedited and I contacted the buyer and she said it is a right address and even on google, there is an apartment building with that right street address.
I called Canada Post to find out what to do as I am not willing to pay for it again and wouldn't ask my buyer to pay for it again and needless to say, Canada Post said it can happen. So it was a blooper on Canada Post's employee and they send me the refund. Naturally I send it by XpressPost and it arrived 2 days late pass the "on-time" guarantee and I get a refund. What a funny and screw up corporation Canada Post is!!

How did you make out with your rat Ross?

It has now been a few days since our exchange of emails and I have not heard from him. I suspect he may have been trying me out to see how I would react. His email was just so strange:
"I would like to know if the radio was sent back to you due to the fact that the sender was away from home."
Well, I am hoping I do not hear from him again. It has been 27 days since the sale - given the item tracking I don't think I will hear from him on that perspective - however, I have not recieved any feedback from him either, so who knows what he is going to do.
I could give him the benefit of the doubt - perhaps someone picked up the radio while he was away. I just don't think so.
I suspect I will hear from him again - one way or the other.
