I think I am starting to hate new members to eBay!

I am starting to think that new eBay members need to past a test on reading 101 before they can bid 😮 I had a cell phone listed (item number 260115928511). The buyer paid right away via paypal and the phone was sent out, now... I got these email messages from them:

I was under the impression this phone was sold with a charger. Who would sell a phone without a charger? Not impressed.

then my reply was Sorry that you misunderstood the listing however, in the listing it reads: This listing comes with what you see in the listing, only the phone and a battery, there is NO box, charger or manuals. The phone itself is used and has scratches and signs of use, wear and tear.

I got another message from the buyer stating this:

Yes, I understand that to find out there was no charger I had to read 5 chapters of text. You have your payment and I will have to suffer for assuming it's common sense to sell a phone without a charger. My mistake, not one I will make again. Nor will I ever give you business again.

I have now offered a full refund if they sent back the $8.00 cell phone... lol 😮 UNBELIEVABLE, how do I block all new buyers? lol

Here, I'll explain the reference for you Cello:

The leader of the Bloc Party said he was going to leave Ottawa and run for the Parti Quebecois leadership. The next day, he said he wouldn't. He changed his mind in 24 hrs. Now Sean started a post about New bidders and his frustrations and shortly thereafter his position is that you should sell to new bidders. That's a flip flop in opinion, just like the Leader of the Bloc Gilles Deceppe. Get it now? They are similiar, in that they will change their opinion based on what other people say. Ok. Has nothing to do with Quebec really. has to do with people who Flip flop. Get it?? And millions of dollars were stolen in Quebec during Paul Martin's leadership. It happened to occur in Quebec. No conspiracy here. Do YOU have a problem with Quebec??

Why would I? I live in Quebec. I have no problem with Quebec, Ontario or anywhere for that matter...arrogant people I could do without though. Insult politicians all you want, but seems to me like you're insulting Sean as well, no need for that.

You misunderstood the reference, you took offence without reason, you made an accusation, you now stand corrected, that's not arrogance, that's correction.

I can assure you I didn't take offense and I did say that if I misunderstood you're posts I apologize. I was just looking for some clarification on your ramblings.

Anyways I'm not interested in picking a fight, but the truth is pal you are arrogant. You insulted Sean, now me...and I see in another thread you basically called duujogl stupid. Very nice. Not sure who you think you are. Personally I think from now on I'll pay my attention to posts by real sellers like zarzuella, rcdp and whoscloset who do your entire feedback score in a single quarter and who always conduct themselves with class. Those are the people worth listening too.

oh wow... this thread got off topic fast, but, it was an interesting read 😮

I read your message there cello10 and I thank you for the advise, I am over this buyer now and have not heard back from them... just gets frustrating when you think you have done everything you can and the buyer acts like that!

I also agree, not too just kick out every new buyer, cause as you stated, no... I would not kick out new customers in a retail store, why would I on here... HOWEVER, with that said... look at this buyer:

lemomade

he bought two items, paid on paypal and I sent him the goods... a few day/weeks (i forget now) he buys two more items and I never hear from him, no payment, reply to email or phone calls... lol ?:|

I guess people like that make the world go round!

Thank you for the ideas everyone! 😄

Is it okay if a "newbie" sticks her 2 cents in? I've noticed an increasing number of individuals who do not read the fine print, so to speak. I am constantly redirecting my customers back to the adverts but, in the end, I just offer a refund...it saves the headache. They pay the return postage. I often I get emails like "Ooh, the ipod does not work." It was tested, I know it works. If they want to pay to return it, including $1.50 for a signature, go ahead. Frequently, they want what they refer to as a partial refund because it does not seem to suit the advert but they cannot tell me how it differs and after a few emails I will give them $2- $4 as a show of good faith or send a $3 cable they never won and that is the end of it. Sometimes, nothing at all is accomplished other than to get the customer to read the advert which, in my mind is a huge accomplishment, as they may become a better shopper or at least stop hassling decent sellers. I never get this attitude for a 200 year-old book, only an ipod which, invariabily is in perfect working order.

I think much of the problem stems from the ease by which the threats can be made and then followed through with negative feedback- there really is no natural consequence for the online buyer. If he/she loses his/her level of "good faith" he/she withdraws for a while and then re-enlists under a new name. Ebay penalizes sellers without question but buyers are given free licence to act out all of their fantasies of theft and misbehaviour in an uncontrolled and, at times, adrenalin-inducing environment. For those who are disinhibited or impulsive by nature this can be a volatilve mix.

I think I am starting to hate new members to eBay!

Our experience with newbie purchases is that most of them DO NOT understand what they are bidding on most of the time nor do they spend the time to read the ad listings completely. The small percentage that do does not make up for the hassles and complaints we get after a sales is made.

Therefore, since it is in our businesses best interest, we simply refund and move on.

Most as thankful for our understanding and we have seen may comeback and buy again and a few make the same mistakes again but they know we will take care of them.

In our business some of terms we use are not familiar to the average consumer - terms like AS-IS and UNTESTED have different meanings so for a newbie we realize that they may not understand exactly what they are bidding on.

Some purchasers are more direct and say they do not want the item or use some other lame excuse to get out of paying those we simply add to our BLOCK list and move on.

We too in the beginning where very tough with our terms and conditions but overtime we quickly realized the eBaY is heavily sided with BUYERS and as a SELLER the more negative exposure you draw to yourself hurts you in the long run.

Cheers,

TIM @ FTL

I've made a lot of sales to zero feedback bidders and have only ever had one negative feedback, and that was left by a person that I had blocked under one of their other names. Usually the only bidders I block are the ones that ask questions and get really snotty about the shipping price before they bid.

Report that to PSer support. It is not only grounds to have the neg removed, it is grounds for the perpetrator to be NARUed.

Lets try this again with the **** over the personal stuff:

I had a buyer win a listing the other day, the item number is 260115936205 and the user is decalman705. His information is **** ***** *** Romaine St Peterborough, ON ****** Canada (***) ***-****.

I had some major issues with him (over a $8.00 used cell phone) which resulted me in sending his threats and harassing emails to ebay and to Kawartha Lakes Police.

Now... today, someone buys item number 260121704895 user name is robkane69 user account was created 28-May-07 in Canada. his info is *** **** **** Hwy 7 RR 3 Cavan, ON *** *** Canada

NOW... things get interesting, as the email that the first user has registered on ebay is: ebay@evacro.com now... if you go to www.evacro.com you will see the company addy is that of the second user, **** Hwy 7 RR 3 Cavan, ON L0A 1C0

This guy has different accounts, two different names, however, you can link all that together from the above information. I have issued a full refund for the second purchase as I do not ship to an unconfirmed account, especially under these circumstance.

I am afraid he is up to something, or fraud, and I want nothing to do with him. I am also concerned that he has only done this to leave me with bad feedback for no reason due to this email that he just sent:

Response from robkane69

Item: PEPPER SPRAY DOG REPELLENT PERSONAL PROTECTION 40g HOT (260121704895) This message was sent while the listing was active.
robkane69 is a bidder.

yeah kinda a bad try there. Don't worry you will get a negative sooner or later, just need a better account.

yet another reason why too... this guy has gotten even worse now and made mention to me about my full time job (not eBay stuff)... the police are really looking into him now... funny too is that eBay said they can talk about their progress but they have taken action! HE IS STILL ON EBAY... i mean dammm, ebay let him stay on after all this?? Click to visit sell-ur-stuff.com
