If I'm on EBay.ca why are my bid items being converted to US dollars?

I'm bidding on an item on Ebay.ca and the item is here in Canada.  Why is ebay converting my item into US dollars?  This doesn't make sense to me.  If I'm purchasing from the US, I understand the conversion.
