MONEY ORDERS from outside of the US & Canada?

Most interntional customers pay by Paypal or Bidpay, but I've recently got one who's insisting on sending a Money Order. He's from Australia. It's been so long I've forgotten, but has anyone had trouble cashing these here. Is one better than the other like say a Travellers Express MO or something? Brain Freeze this morning

Just tell your customer that the money order has to have NORTH AMERICAN micro encoding on the bottom left. There will normally be a line or two that says payable through something like the "Left Bank of the Delaware, Wilmington Delaware". As long as its payable through a US bank you shouldn't have any problem with it. I have been receiving international money orders for about 20 years and only have a problem if it doesnt have the micro encoding.

I've had a bunch of them and there has never been a problem. As long as the money amount (and USD) is apparent, the bank hasn't had a problem. They do usually obtain western union and other "familiar' ones. Gloria

I tell ya i got 9 people email me wanting pay by money, cashier check and u name it. These nine were clearly told we do not accept anything but paypal. Got to appointment where it was an arguement over how i run my business. They call me scamer. Well i asure i didnt take that lying down. On major items like cars or anything its just getting to hard to accept them. I had a money order 5500usd not joke had all tghe security features on it, even the canada banks said it wads legit. So i still had my doubts so took it to a place like money mart. well guess what it was legit and it was worth 5.50usd not 5500usd. So beware this money was from prime time bank in texas. I am now not acceptimng any money orders unless i know who u are and you boiught off of me before.

Australia Post can issue Western Union MO's in USD. Looks just like the regular US origin Western Union ones with the Australia Post logo in the top left.

I take any USD Money Order (or any other international currency, actually), and I just deposit it into my PC Bank account -- they accept any currency. I then wait for it to clear and then send my items. I haven't had a problem yet...
