Most complete buyer metamorphosis...

This is new for me:

Buyer purchased a trailer wiring box, a real low fraud item, on Dec 8th.

Sent it with Small packet - Air to USA, left FB, done deal.

Not so fast.

Today, I got a question of " Never got item, can you resend ?", together with an eBay user info request.

This is the interesting part.

Buyer's name changed from Her to Him, no common names.
EVERYTHING in the address changed, down to the country itself. (Went from south of Illinois to North of Ontario)

The only thing that's the same is the phone number... huh ?

It's in the 807 area code, a Northwestern Ontario code.

The address was originally in USA, both in eBay and PayPal.

Now, I have no problems resending or even refunding, but I am really interested in finding out how the guy/gal could go about and change his registration info in eBay to a different country.

I did ask about what's up with the complete changeover, still waiting for the answer...

Man, when you think you've seen it all...

I believe you have to call eBay to have a CSR change your country of residence.
You can, however, have multiple shipping addresses on your eBay/Paypal accounts - I have a US address set up as my primary ship-to address but my registration address is in Canada.

Looks like your buyers changed their primary shipping address after making the purchase from you.

If you send this item small packet to the U.S. then you would likely send it Expedited in Canada which costs more. Could the buyer be trying to save on the shipping cost that way?

I have several customers that have CA accounts but US shipping addresses.

When they pay, Paypal sends the US address but, if I were to pull their stats, it would show the CAD address.

I would not get too worried about your buyer. Asking for a re-send instead of a refund usually means they really did not receive the package. Also, Small Packets come with $100 insurance by default.

It's highly unorthodox but not unusual to require reshipment to different address.

This seems to be buyer's mistake. I would not make it as easy for them though: get buyer sign affidavit for insurance purposes, reinvoice applicable Canadian taxes and difference in shipping cost, and resend.

Of course, they can do this via PayPal INR process, when you will have option to report buyer or let it go and bend over.

Nah, it's good...

It's a $17 item (s/h included), and it costs me about 50 cents to acquire...

So I'll just send it to Canada, at least I'll have a tracking number. As for taxes and stuff, I can afford that much...

He just explained that the address is due to the fact that he works in the States 3 months per year, and he forgot to change the shipping address.

It's his sister's house that the package is going to in the States, so no biggie. I just never saw so much of, well, everything, really, being different...

At this stage I can hardly afford another opened case, anyhow.

I realize you had issues and cannot afford the case.

However, my problem is that eBay buyers are becoming more and more PITA because they are trained they get away with pretty much anything.

Btw. nice profit margin.

😄

Not really that nice...

All it took was a $25,000 injection molding press and about $8~10,000 to make the molds, on a $85,000 CNC machining center...

Long ago amortized on paper, and a lot of major customers paid for it, long ago...

After that, it's $0.20 in hardware and $0.30 in ABS plastic.

I can make about 1,000 a day, in 24 hours. I only wish I could sell even 10% of that capacity...

China killed it about 5 years ago, and it doesn't matter that I can make it cheaply, not when the most major trailer lights and accessories dealer is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Wiu, with a Taipei address...

And considering that I have only that product connected to trailers, distributors don't want the hassle of yet another supplier. For them, it's a single line on a PO...

Still have some large-ish clients, but nowhere even slightly near what we had in 2004~5

Can you tell I hate China...?:-(
