Penalties for duplicate listings... Do they reset eventually?

Hey guys!

I have an anchor store and list ~5,000 listings each month.

A few years ago when I was starting on eBay I had a few duplicate violations.

I never intentionally made those but I thought eBay would agree that 2 duplicates over a few thousand listings wasn't that much of a big deal so I didn't spend too much energy on finding them.

I was wrong... apparently, for eBay, having 1 duplicate in 10,000,000,000,000,000 listings is as bad as having 1 duplicate with 10 listings. They don't consider the size and realize duplicates are more likely to happen the more listings you have.

Long story short, 2 years ago, I was hit with a 7 days and 30 days ban in a short period.

I have also been informed that a new duplicate violation would possibly mean a permanent ban for eBay.

Since then, I have not had a single duplicate violation. Maybe I was lucky or it's because I spend a RIDICULOUS amount of time screening for them now. I do realize however it's only a question of time before I let one slip as my store keeps growing.

What I wanted to know, since I have been going 2 years without a duplicate, when I get hit with another duplicate violation, will eBay consider it's been 2 years since my last duplicate violation and give a lighter penalty?

Thanks!

I think this would be a good time to utilize this "special" support we anchor store owners get for our increased fees!

If it were me, I would call them by phone at our special number and ask them this question. My experiences with this group so far (by phone) have been positive.

Good advice.

Here is a key line (not lime) from from the "Welcome to your Anchor Store Dedicated Customer Service"  email.

Proactive policy consultation, which can include advance notification of a listing in violation (plus 48 business hours to fix it)

Although I do believe that "perk" should be available to any seller with a good track record, not just Anchor Store subscribers.......

That seems like a great idea but how can I access this "Anchor Store Dedicated Customer Service" instead of the regular customer service? I cannot seem to find the phone number anywhere... Do I access it simply by pressing "Help and contact" at the bottom of the page? It might just get me the regular customer service no?
Thanks!

Hi ggm!

We got the special contact information in a special email and ebay message sent somewhere around July 1st (I got mine on July 1st). Beyond that I don't know how to find it, I kept the message and also wrote it down in my (on real paper) contact card file....

I replied to your message as well...

Thank you so much guys!

I called and was told I didn't have to worry.

They would consider the fact I haven't had a violation in 2 years and would be OK! 🙂 🙂

I don't know why I didn't do anything to clear this up earlier! SUCH A RELIEF!

Love you guys! 🙂 🙂

For some reason I've never been penalized for accidental duplicate listings, and I've had many over the years. eBay just automatically cancels them and sends me a message. I have no idea why. Low value items? Luck?

On June 20-th I initiated the subject DUPLICATE LISTINGS for discussion and from other seller have learned about VERY HELPFUL link

http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/DuplicateListings.htm

I tried and was very impressed, the seller got few KUDOS for this link!

With all these calls that we can make to eBay and time spent (or lost?) there with questionable results, I suggest we all develop a habit to check these "doubles" let's say once a week and live comfortable

Good luck!
