Purchased item Sept. 14. I never received it so I contacted the seller to request a refund Oct.26. Seller never responded so I escalated to a claim Oct.31.
Paypal says the claim is being reviewed. Today, Nov. 10 I get a message from the seller saying that he's been trying to refund me but cannot because of the case being open and is awaiting my response. I responded to the seller saying that once I see a refund in my paypal account, I would be happy to close the claim. I'm not sure what to do, thanks.

Wait for paypal to force a refund.
If you close the case you won't be able to open another one.

As *katz's says ..do not close the claim. Lets seller of the hook and you would never see a refund.
PayPal auto closes the claim once they issue a refund.
