my Invoices offer buyers chance to mail payment

I only accept PayPal, always have done it this way, always will. My auctions are VERY clear. In the "payment info" box at the bottom of each auction, it says "seller prefers PayPal" and lists PayPal as the only method of payment. All my auctions are BIN, and require payment asap after purchase.

Anyway, in the last couple weeks, when buyers don't pay right away, I send an Invoice. I've had a few replies like "oh, I can pay by cash or check? Cool, it's in the mail!" I was initially baffled, so I asked a buyer to forward me a copy of the Invoice. Sure enough, it lists my address, and says "if you'd like to mail payment, please do so". I'm quite sure it didn't use to say that, as I've never had a problem with buyers being confused before, and I've done 3000+ auctions, all PayPal only.

Anyone else getting this? It's quite frustrating. Can't they just make stuff work properly? There are literally 10 or more glitches in my eBay experience. Most I've been able to get around, with a little extra work, or a little extra in fees. But this isn't fixable at least from where I'm standing. 😕

No this is the ebay check out ...You need to change you ebay check out perferences . To paypal only , it sounds like you have the other option turned on instead .

You can pick paypal only

or

Paypal plus other options

If you can not get it to work I have another options for you

When the address comes up for people to see . Change the ebay check out address to look like this

Do not take Payment by mail or Money order
Paypal only as stated in Auction

Okay, I have set my "shipping address" to:

PayPal Only
as stated in auction
Thank you, BC

Even so, why do my invoices say "gladly accepting payment in the mail to the following address"? I DO NOT WANT them to say that! Should I not send invoices? Do I have to make my own invoices, and email them manually to my buyers?

Why don't you just send a PayPal invoice rather than an eBay invoice?

"Did you also change your preferences as todd suggested?"

If todd is chicshopper, then no, I didn't change my preferences as he suggested, because they've ALWAYS been that way. Ever since it has been available, I've had "PayPal only" selected. If this whole mess was because I was stupid, and selected "PayPal plus other options" then I deserve to be smacked around. 🙂 Trust me, I have "PayPal only" checked.

"how'd you get all those negs?"

Fourteen out of seventeen hundred fourteen? That's not much at all - 0.8%! I had more, but I got eBay to remove them. I only use BIN (as I've pointed out) so anyone who wants to can make a new account, buy an item, leave negative feedback, and abandon the account. I get that a lot - people who have a need to "stick it to the man", etc. Like I'm some kind of evil big business or something? I'm a small-time collectible card seller. Oh well. Another reason for the negs is my customer base - 15 to 25 year old males. Also, my policy of leaving negative feedback on all non-payers. Then there's the fact that I also do my buying with this account, and leave negative feedback for sellers that screw me (which often causes a retaliation negative). One of the fourteen negatives is from someone whose item was lost in the mail - the rest are vindictive scam artists or new accounts created to harass. EBay has removed some, but not all. Read through all my negs and take a look.

"Why don't you just send a PayPal invoice rather than an eBay invoice?"

To me, that's like saying "if you buy a jacuzzi, and the jets don't work, use the bubbles!" I'm paying good money to eBay (and to PayPal as well). There needs to be some accountability for their services. If it's broken, get a programmer on it, and have it fixed. PayPal invoices are neither convenient nor ideal for my purposes.

I'm just going to hope the "PayPal Only, as stated in auction" address helps buyers clue in. Still, I've already had one buyer email saying "your invoice says I can pay with a check, but your address isn't there". Grrr.

Thanks for that link. Obviously, other people are pretty upset about the sudden exposure of their addresses (against their will) to potentially hundreds of other eBay members. 😕
