Anyone else getting this when they try to relist an item that ended in a refund of Final Value fees? EBay apparently pays us back for our listing fees if the item sells the second time, after the first time going bad due to a non paying buyer. But for the past couple months (they changed the policy a few months ago and it worked for a little while) I'm getting this message when I go to relist.
I emailed eBay a while ago, and they said:
"Our system is properly crediting items that sell when relisted from an unsold listing. If you relist an unsold listing, and our system does not offer the relist credit, then the relist does not meet all of the criteria for our policy. Unfortunately, when items do not qualify, our system does not currently state the specific reason. We have asked our developers to add this information."
I never asked about an "unsold listing" - I asked about a listing that sold but ended in a FVF credit! What kind of useless generic answer is that? The second sentence goes on to contradict the first. Then they go on to say:
"We understand that the note when relisting a Non-Paying Bidder item currently shows that the credit will not be available. However, that note does not affect eligibility, and if the relist qualifies with all criteria, then our system will issue credit automatically. We do offer manual credit in some cases.
Our engineers are working to correct the note that is shown when relisting an item because of a Non-Paying Bidder, so that this type of confusion can be avoided in the future."
I've been trying to watch my invoice and it indeed does seem that SOMETIMES the credit is given and sometimes it isn't. The process for getting a manual credit is long, annoying, and doesn't always result in eBay agreeing with you.
My suggestion to eBay is to stop profiting on sellers' trust, naivety, or indifference. What you are doing is illegal and immoral. You know damn well that I don't have time to hunt down my 35 cents every time you take it. You know that my time can be better spent working on my auctions. But someday, somebody with lots of time and money is going to take you to court in a massive class auction suit and get us back our thousands. And yes, you have already swindled me for that much, via this method and half a dozen others.
