This was on the local news last night regarding a situation with CP in Red Deer.

"It really defeats the purpose of paid delivery when you have to then drive across the city to pick up your parcel."

I've had this happen to me on numerous occasions. You're waiting around for a parcel and it gets house tagged (when it either won't fit in the community mail box, requires or doesn't require a signature. You check tracking info and it shows it's been tagged so you check your front door. It may be at the post office later that day or from time to time the next day. I've even had parcels dropped off on step when I was home with no sort of door knock or bell ring. Parcels in plain sight that could walk away in a heartbeat. It's either baffling or carriers in a major rush to get to their next stop.

A variation on what I call drive-by-deliveries.  Had them from Canada Post, FedEX and UPS at my  old location.

My current location mostly has the occasional why-did-they-put-there drop-off (which is why photo deliveries are a nice thing to have).
